(some people don't like the hammer cocked back, which you need to do w/ this one or you have to rack the slide when needed).

Yes, but most 1911 models have the "dual safety" feature which requires you to actually hold the weapon properly before it will fire, so at least there is that...

Next purchase: Springfield XD .40 cal.

I have a Colt 1911 that was used in WW2 by my wife's great uncle in combat. I also have the belt and two extra clips with the clip holder. Someone told me it was worth a good bit of money, so I don't carry it much.

Love my Browning Hi-Power. 14 shots of 9MM Luger. Fired over 4,000 rounds through in 40 years of having it!
