Can't believe it....another 'mirage'...everytime something starts gaining momentum it fall's apart. So much for that hot start.
Looks like a middle of the pack/mediocre squad afterall.
The important thing is that everyone gets ice cream after the game.Know your soccer OP. The best team does not always win.

Now let's look at the facts:
- we're NOT an offensive-minded team. Just about every game this year has been tight. We do have, however, a very good D and one of the best keepers in the nation. Anyway, teams as such, YES, will lose TIGHT games, 1-0, 2-1, now-and-then. I don't think anyone had this group going undefeated.
- missing 2 starters, IIRC, for this trip
- it was a road trip
- Illinois was 6-2-1 headed into the weekend and swept at home
- NW was 8-1-2 coming into yesterday's game, which they won in OT, and swept at home
....so can we relax just a tad? I'm pretty sure this team is still fairly young and, without downplaying where they can go with a GREAT D and a GREAT Keeper, this season, I'm pretty sure next year is the one most have been looking towards.
When are those 2 injured players supposed to return to the team?
I don't want to waste a Friday night or Sunday afternoon attending a game if they don't have their full team.
I follow EVERYTHING RU and take pride in their accomplishments and pain in their failures...to me its about state pride expressed through athletics or academics.I never understand football only people. I played football at Cornell but I also followed EVERY sport including the year we won the NCAA championship in womans polo.(and 3 lacrosse national championships, a wrestling team that to this day is always top 5-10...not to mention 8 frozen fours and 3 hockey national championships).....
The womens soccer team has represent RU in the B10 better than any other sport.
I follow all non-revenue teams closely and have taken great pride in WSocc in light of the generally mediocre at performance of our other non-rev's other than Wrestling. Very disappointing losses to non-ranked teams, esp the Northwestern loss after such a great start. Missing a couple of offensive players on a team that relies more on D and that hurt us. Still hopeful they can turn it back around. But compared to some of our other non-revs, WSocc is still a nice beacon of hope.
I believe that volleyball quite literally is the worst team of any P5 program in any sport. Not only last year did they not win a single match in the B1G, they did not win a single set in B1G play except against MD, another poor team. And this year in addition to starting off the B1G season by getting crushed in each match, they had already been beaten 3-0 by by Harvard and Princeton an 3-1 by Yale and Albany - and I'm not even talking about the thrashings we also received by such non-national powers as Sacramento State and Santa Clara (at least we have the excuse that they're in volleyball-talent-rich CA). It's awful to be so lacking in funds that we have to have such poor teams despite being in the B1G.
Which is exactly why teams such as volleyball should be dropped. We need less teams not more. I'm sure it's not a huge amount of money but their whole operating budget could be transferred over to a sport with a fighting chance. How much space do they require in the new facility and what's the added expense of that? The fact we have more varsity sports than the University of Texas is ludicrous.I follow all non-revenue teams closely and have taken great pride in WSocc in light of the generally mediocre at performance of our other non-rev's other than Wrestling. I love soccer. I played on the club team. I go to 1 men's and women's game a season. I still play in an over 30 men's league. I'm just making fun of the guy that thinks "playing well" is the aim and not winning. You gotta put the ball in the back of the net. While I appreciate nice passing I come to the games to see our team score more goals than the other team.Versus a jailhouse football team that deals in "moral victories."
I will never understand soccer haters.
Are you serious with this stuff? How in the world is it "wasting a Friday night or Sunday afternoon" because two starters are out? With two starters out, we still came down to the wire with 2 of the other good teams in the B1G. If you have any interest in Rutgers athletics or Rutgers soccer and are close enough to go whenever, just go to the game and enjoy a day/night of fresh air. It's not like you're paying $100/ticket with parking to go see them. Enjoy watching some good soccer.
They dropped from 11 to 17.
They still have a great chance to make the post season.
You sound like you don't go often. It's the same cost whether the team wins or loses. If the cost is a big issue, try your local high school or Div-III team. You'll get the same fresh air, the same sense of competition, and you'll save your money. And you won't be missed..If I'm going to see a game I want to see the full team.
Gas, parking, tickets, concessions all add up.

If your criteria is seeing the full team, I'd imagine pretty much every team in every sport on any given day is eliminated from the mix. How many teams are ever at 100%If I'm going to see a game I want to see the full team.

This can't be said enough. Rutgers is fielding teams that have shoestring budgets and no chance of being competitive because of it. Literally no chance.
Field the number of teams that can be fully funded with out of state scholarship money, proper support and facilities, and not one more. This isn't rec league where fielding teams is the goal.
We are fighting with our hands behind our back in virtually every sport, and we get the results we do because of it.

I'd be happy with 212 if that's the case. BTW, your thread is on the wrong message board and says more about the OP than the Rutgers women's soccer team.Yeah, attendance will be 212 without me instead of 214 or 216.

I should try to make one of the game this weekend. I root for any Rutgers team particularly those would some record of success.

I'm trying to latch onto something successful out of Rutgers.
I thought this team may be it, but from what I saw on tv vs Illinois, just an average squad.
I hope they have a successful weekend though in the rains.
