So after playing quordle a week, I’d say it’s more challenging but doable. Between practice and daily mode (same game nothing thing is different) about 85% success rate. The misses, I usually have 3 of 4 words. I feel like there’s more frequency of words off the beaten path compared to wordle. It is somewhat unforgiving on unproductive guesses though. All the successful finishes are on guess 7, 8 or 9 in about equal parts. Only 3 times on guess 6 and none before. Fun game that makes you work a little.

Same and the words weren’t even that hard today. Might have been able to get it in 8 but used guess 8 to eliminate options to ensure I got it on guess 9.
Guessing maybe I should not have used guess 3 to get my first word but should have used more letters instead knowing I probably already knew top-right. I might have been able to eliminate possible words in other sections..

Well guessing early is fine provided you get it right lol. Eventually the word has to be guessed correctly but the problem is you may think you have it but it could be a one letter variation which didn’t come to you and then you’ve β€œwasted” the guess without discovering any new letters.

I tend to avoid that now because that’s happened to me. Like I said it can be unforgiving to unproductive guesses. It’s a fine line between getting 3 or 4 of the words. So I kind of let words that I think know sit a bit and see if other guesses I make for other words can confirm my guess or shed light on a word that didn’t come to me.

I always start with the same word, adieu.
I have been using that since you mentioned it here
Today's word used none of the letters, the first time that happening for me

I usually then try to use as many consonants with the letter O if possible with the second try

well, what I am suggesting is that I was correct in my 3rd word guess.. but it used many of the letters I already used.. so it did not help much with the other three words and that same situation.. many words can fit the letters and positions I knew.. happened later. I got into that.. is it this? is it that? think on guess 4+ on the left-side words.. SO.. what I was saying was maybe I ould have been better off with a generic letter-elimination guess on the third word.. in any case, if the situation rises again I will consider that

well.. took all 9 today too.. thought I had top-right again in 3.. waited til 4.. was WRONG. Guess 7 on bottom-left was WRONG.. thought I had that... so I moved to bottom-right and then came back to bottom-left... don't think there was a second word that would have worked at that point.

Today's I got in 8 but like I said if I'm successful it's almost always 7,8,9. 4 times at 6. One time one of my start words was actually correct and I thought I might actually have a chance at 5 and it still took me 6. One of the words had multiple available combinations like jolly, holly, folly, golly, polly, etc..

I understood what you were saying. If you have a lot of letters revealed as part of the word, you won't discover new letters if you keep on that same word. But if you know it and are really sure there really isn't a penalty in guessing it early provided it's correct. Eventually it has to be guessed right whether it's the 3rd or 5th or 7th try. There's nothing sacrificed if it's correct. The problem is if you really think you have it but actually don't and that's happened to me. So I put off guessing sometimes even if I'm really sure because I've flubbed guesses that were suppose to be really sure lol.

this is harder.. advice is to use the first three to eliminate/reveal letters.. and when you can guess a word.. think about all the words that may fit and use one that uses more letters rather than assuming a double-letter (though I have seen double and even triple letter use in this... PUPPY for example).

It is harder but still doable. I’ve played it a ton between practice and daily mode (some go quick some can take a little longer) and have around 85-90% success rate. I rarely ever get it in fewer than 7 guesses though. Only 8 times at 6 guesses now and still never anything before. Success at guess 7,8,9 used to be fairly even but now there's some separation with 8 being the most, then little less at 9 and then a little less at 7.

I always get three in my failures. You have to be judicious and productive in your guesses imo. Unproductive guessing is usually penalized if you do it more than once or twice.

Here's my method. I have two start words, I use every time (I can give them if you'd like but you say best to discover on your own so I'll withhold for now unless someone asks). Then after whatever those start words reveal, I'll come up with a guess in my head for every board. I usually try an actual guess on the board that revealed the least letters because that one is the one to potentially give me information on more new letters. Say 3 or 4 letters vs 1 or 2 on a board that got more revealed. Then I just take it from there and always have a vague guess as I go for every board and if multiple options exist for a board ( ex: ___OLLY so JOLLY, FOLLY, DOLLY etc..) I'll try to eliminate options from guesses on other boards and wait til the last chance to put a guess in for that board with the multi options.

now that's good advice

I was in a situation where I knew the first three letters of a word after my first 2. So I guessed.. poorly. That is, I guessed a word with a repeating letter.. WRONG.. then I guessed another word with a repeating letter.. WRONG.. the third word I tried had no repeating letter and was the answer. If I THOUGHT more about it and listed the possible words it could be.. I would have guessed the word without a repeating letter and in this case it would have been correct... but if wrong would have at least revealed 2 more letters instead of 1.

Key on quordle is to put 3 words in up front using 15 different letters
say mourn, chive, patsy

Getting bored with this pet rock.
The wife and I have been doing the wordle for a couple of weeks.
She only failed once and I have gotten the answer each time
I would imagine it can get boring, but, if you solve it quickly you are not wasting a lot of time on it

We still start with Adieu for the first word, and now like to use SNORT in the second spot, even though you might know that word is not going to be it

You get all the vowels out there, except y of course, and a lot of good
Consonants. The combination of those two words usually has me well on the way

That’s an extra step beyond my two start words that uses 10 different letters and all the vowels. I could try that too and see if it would help improve my percentage or give success earlier. The third word would have to be one of those words with y in it and has no vowels.

I usually go RADIO first and the rest of the vowels next. I think I might have missed two Wordles in the last month or so of playing.

The excitement is waning quickly.

Good work
It works out much the same, I have radio covered with the first two words entered, all the vowels and S,N,and T which are good consonants

I usually followup ADIEU with STORY. Next guess, to try to get the actually answer, almost has an N in it.

Tried your method last night a handful of times and it worked well so far and probably better than I was doing in terms of resolution time.

With 3 start words instead of two you can’t get it before 7 unless by some chance one of the words is a start word but I was only getting it a small percentage of times at 6 anyway. In the handful of times I played success at 7 came more frequently than it had been. I think there’s a balance between letter elimination and use of a guess but 3 start words to eliminate 15 letters seems to work as well or better than 2 start words. Thanks for the idea.

I didn’t give my three words cause I thought some may want to come up with their own but since others are sharing.

My original two start words for quordle are RAISE and COUNT. It got me all the vowels and RSTN(wheel of fortune letters). C is a good β€œsecondary consonant” too imo. Now going to 3 start words I’ve added LYMPH…L(another wheel of fortune letter) and H,M are good β€œsecondary consonants” and the Y is a nice wild card consonant that can be quite helpful at times.

A parent posted a picture bragging of their kid getting wordle on the first try the other day. I told the parent I thought the kid was messing with them. The kid is a chess wiz. 0% chance his first guess was a double letter word. Then they said oh no, he told me he was going to use that word the day before, which only increased my confidence level. Little rat. Pretty sure I'm on the parents sh*t list now.

The wordle bot uses SLATE as its start word, FYI.

I use ORATE and then MUSIC for the second word. All the vowels and common consonants. Surprisingly, to me, MUSIC rarely produces good results, although it was the answer a couple of days ago. Even with MUSIC providing few "hits" if helps me by eliminating letters, which can be almost as important as hitting them.

I have hit 61 of the last 62 wordles, which is disappointing, because I should be able to hit 100 percent.

I used to go with ATONE every time until I hit my lone 1-spot (before today - sniffed it out with a hint from a friend) with it. Now I'm all over the map, but ARISE has become my most common go-to.

I start with ORATE as well (or IRATE if my finger hits the wrong key). SHUCK is usually my 2nd word. I have a lot of luck with it

I start with raise and if it has no letters second shot is count.
Of course playing cowardly with my 11 year old granddaughter she was smart enough to use that knowledge against me
