Anyone have it? Need to add it for my Dolphins as DirectTV no longer carrying it. Looking for pros and cons. Wife needs to know can shows still be recorded? Thanks
I was in the same boat, as a Dolphins fan. I bought the standalone YouTube TV for the Sunday Ticket back when there was a promo on it. Over the summer I got rid of DirecTV satellite and switched my television to DirecTV Stream. Not sure if you have checked that out. I have the Choice package and have all the same channels and channel numbers that I had on DirecTV. Have had now for 2 months and like it a lot. That package is $100 a month, all in, with no other fees. Cheaper than what I was paying for satellite with them. I set it up on all our TVs with either Roku or Firestick. Plus you can stream on your iPad or phone too with the DirecTV app. I was hesitant for a long time to ditch traditional satellite or cable but this seemed like a great option. Of course I had to buy the Sunday Ticket separate from YouTube TV, but I was going to do that regardless personally. Just my two cents.

Oh and to the second point about recording shows. DirecTV Stream has unlimited cloud DVR and you can record as much as you want and watch back then on any tv or mobile device. I guess recordings expire after 9 months, but from what I read that's par for the course with most streaming services.

All shows are DVRed to the Google cloud.
You can "save" them to your account for year
Works pretty well
Price went up to $73/month

Still a drop in the bucket compared to Direct TV. Seems like the Sunday Ticket gave me the kick in the butt to switch

Dont Direct TV Stream have the extra NFL channel set up for NFL RedZone since they no longer have Sunday Ticket?

And sorry to hear you're a dolphins fan @RuBird At least you're not embarrassed like others to publicly admit it. Guess your already used to all those losses from your years as a Mets fan.

DirecTV Stream added RedZone over the summer, but that is like part of certain packages only. I don't watch that so for me it's fine. But if you wanted it, you'd have to get a certain level package.

It does have SNY and YES though, which was important as a Mets fan for me, albeit not this summer or fall!

Also to the OP, not sure if you are a sports bettor. But FanDuel now has a promo too for $100 off on Sunday Ticket that I got the other day emailed to me. Seems like a general promotion. Good for existing customers of FanDuel too, after opt in and a $5 bet.

You tube TV doesn't have SNY or YES as an FYI if you like the Mets and Yankees
We have Fios for our internet/phone. As of now we have the basic package but will add SNY. Still much cheaper than DirectTV. Now only issue is Rangers with no MSG. I am sure enough other channels will carry a few games

I have it. Sometimes there is a slight time delay with live action games so just be aware.
So can’t be on the message board during Rutgers games. Need to be surprised when Gavin throws the winning TD against OSU and your spoiler alert comes true 😉

Anyone getting Hulu Live?
Had to switch to Hulu from YoutubeTV because they dropped SNY. Hate Hulu. It is so app focused and Not easy to get to live TV. I still haven’t figured out an easy way to see a full live schedule, ie, a list of what is on. Also seems the clarity of my picture is not always top end. If Youtube brought back SNY I would go back in a second.

When you state Hulu is "app focused," what exactly do you mean? Did you download the app on your TV? Phone? PC? And did it not perform well?

Took the first month for free and ordered Sunday Ticket. Getting used to remote/channels. Feel like a dinosaur at 58. Lots of eye rolls from my loving daughter 😉

Good service, but they irritated me with their constant price increases, so I dumped it...

I’ve had it for a few years and not having a number to type in took some adjustment.

I went into my account and rearranged the grid to keep the channels I’d more frequently watch near the top of the grid.

Also now for CFB, I’ll go to all the channels that have games I’m interested in and get them into memory. Then it’s easy to just hit the down button to show all your last watched channels to flip back and forth between games.

YouTube tv has also started introducing preset split screens (2 and 4 screens) for some events so that will make it easier too. Sound can take a little while to catch up to whichever screen you have highlighted and in focus if you’re changing focus between boxes.

Yeah ...meh. Content is pretty good but commercials are incredibly annoying (especially on demand), interface is weak and apps are often buggy.

Been thinking of switching to YouTube but will have to see where the respective prices are. Also, will probably forget and end up with another season of Hulu.

Yes, it is accessed by an app that is downloaded by the App Store.
Sure. I had each of them in the past. Was curious as to what @Unionst 's point is re: Hulu being "app focused," as if that were a negative. ??? I'm going to reactivate one or the other this weekend. Was leaning toward Hulu. TBD.

This my sticking point of ditching directv after 20 years. You tube TV in $80 range. But doesnt come with Yes, and there was another sports channel didn't include that I needes (maybe was Big Ten Network, Msg or CBS Sports, don't remember) but adding those sports channels came out to another $35 or so. So then right back to within $10 of direct TV. Which isn't worth the change to me.

Direct TV no longer cares if i call and threaten to cancel after 10+ years of annual call and $40 off per month. Apparently used all of those calls up! Would love to get rid of Direct TV but don't want to pay over $100/month.

I probably did not put that well so I will try to clarify. With YouTubeTV the organization of live tv is straightforward and easy to access. I can find shows and record them in an easy to navigate process. Not so, at least for me, with Hulu. I find live tv shows hard to find; Hulu’s seems to create all sorts of groupings and sub groupings of movies and specials that for me, make the search and navigation overly complex, particularly for live tv.

It might just be me. It might be worth trying the 7 days free if that’s available to you.

Yes YTTV is a decent service but its still on the way to becoming the same as the FiOS cord I cut.
I began at $50 a month and all I watched was football
Now its $73 after going-up every year after adding channels I dont want.
People know most content is flat and unappealing.
Content producers got lazy knowing they would get their cable cash-cut no matter what
So people just got digital styrofoam stuck on repeat
I was paying $125 a month for FiOS triple play
Now I pay $125 without the landline.
But I drop YTTV after the Super Bowl so I'm 6 months on and 6 off (I never miss the TV)
Right now streamers are hurting becauise people like the clips on TikTok more than the TV

is there a limit as to how many tvs you can have YouTube tv on?
I can’t remember exactly. I think it’s 3 or 4 devices simultaneously per account but you can have multiple (can’t remember how many) sub accounts that are part of the main account iirc.

Nice tip. We're about to order it this week and I was also worried about getting used to a new way of navigating channels.

Yea it’s a lot more scrolling rather than direct to a channel by number. That’s why I rearranged the guide to keep the most watched stuff at the top.

Also it is somewhat intuitive. It kind of learns your patterns and history and it’ll have the shows you watch daily or weekly and have those channels ready in the home menu at that time of day or week. Like I’ll watch say Today show or CNBC most mornings and one of them is automatically on when I turn the tv on in the morning and both will be in the home menu at that time of day. Or say you watch Amazing Race Tuesday’s at 9…if you turn the the tv on Tuesday around that time it’ll be in the home menu. Same for sporting events. If something is recently recorded it’ll be in the menu for easier access as well. You don’t even have to go into the guide sometimes.

Also if you turn the tv off and come back hours later within the same day. It’ll be on the same program at the same spot you left it when you turn the tv back on, no need to record anything. It’s not that big a deal but sometimes it’s nice.

I am thinking of making the jump from FIOS to YouTube TV but the channel thing annoys me to no end. It would be great if they were able to add some sort of voice system where if you have a voice enabled remote for the TV to change the channels. Scrolling through, even after you configure to put your more watched channels at the top, seems pretty lame. For such a technical product, not being able to change the channel in a more concise way, well, kinda dumb to me. LOL.
