I feel strongly that this one item the legislature has correct. The WORLD tiptoes around this to not hurt feelings or to avoid the backlash by people who seem to be a bit oblivious to athletic competition.

I have always been a supporter of girls/womens sports as I think sports participation is a strong component of making better opportunites for young people. The question by some seems to be are we taking opportunities from an extremely small percentage of the population.

Look at the transgender women (that is when a male transitions to a female) that compete in sports whether it is weightlifting, cycling, track, volleyball, rugby, or swimming.

Que Tucker told me directly when the NCHSAA implemented this ruling that high school girls had no issue with trans females playing or competing with them. I told her to wait until someone was injured due to contact or lost a title or trophy to a trans athlete and we could revisit the conversation but at that point the non trans athlete would have lost out.

Too bad that dummy wouldn't heed your prophetic words....

Don't know if they'd want it or not. Sounds like we're just a burden on Raleigh, so I'm sure they would gladly give up the territory if TN was interested.
Whoa now nobody said you should leave. It was posted that someone from up that way wanted that part of the state to leave. So read future posts and get a feel for the room. No one said that NC should kick out that part of the state

Draw a line on Eastern border of Ashe, Watauga, Caldwell, Burke, and Cleveland County borders. Everything West would be West Carolina except Buncombe County. Take all the people in Buncombe County and relocate to California or Oregon where they really want to be. Make Buncombe County a State Park. Or take the same line West, and let Tennessee add those 20 counties, minus Buncombe, to The Volunteer State. Or just make West Carolina part of SC. Problem solved.

As for Transgenders. If you want to be a boy or a girl I could care less. But if your *** was born with an XY chromosome I'm am absolutely sorry but you will not compete against an XX. You are welcome to play sports but it will be against your birth Sex. These dudes going from the #86th 100m runner to winning gold the next year because they all the sudden feel like woman. SMH

This country has a mental health problem disguised as a gun problem and a tyranny problem disguised as a security problem.

What exactly is being done to address the mental health issue? Look at politicians attacking every single thing trying to be done about it. Look at the policiticians that won't give schools resources to help address it. Look at the politicians that block red flag laws. And don't tell me they'd get the gun anyway. Almost every single mass shooter has gone to their local gun shop and purchased whatever they want days before committing the heinous act. There have been red flags in everyone one of these cases and nothing has been done to get out in front of it and the only solution is "more guns" because Republicans don't have the balls to stand up to Wayne Lapierre because they don't want to lose that money and voting base.

One day it's going to hit close to home, and when it does alot of mindsets will be changed.

Also why do we need access to tactical gear and large capacity magazines?

No one is losing a 100m dash and going to start going through the sex change process the next day in order to compete as a female.

Are you really ok with a male saying he is a girl competing against girls in sports. It’s a simple question. There is nothing political about it. When you make choices in life there are consequences. So if that’s the life you choose to live there may be things you don’t get to do. In NC you have already had a female athlete get hurt from a boy playing on a girls team in Volleyball.

Not me buddy
I could care less what ESPN does.
I don't watch sports beyond the HS level other than MMA. I think I'm going start watching
App State wrestling some in the next few years though.

The same people that are the loudest about "protecting women's sports" are usually the same ones who complain every time ESPN airs a women's basketball game
Uh what you talking about WNBA sucks. Women’s college basketball is fun to watch. If you want value for your ticket. Go watch a College Softball game. It’s awesome. Family will go watch Tennessee Softball game couple times a year

I agree! I'm a State fan and started watching more women's hoops when I got to college... mostly because of State being a contender, but I found myself watching more NCAA tournament games/big games throughout the years too.

My point with my initial comment is I feel like a lot of the crowd, including politicians, that're in a frenzy over trans-participation are disingenuous. Seems that many only "care" about women's sports in this context and use this debate because it's a way to attack a group of people they don't like and marginalize them from the rest of society. I'll admit I don't know what the answer is and I don't understand why trans people feel the way they do... but villainizing a group that often has suicide rates of nearly 50%?

This is how I look at it. It’s a slap in the face for someone like Pat Summit who did so much for women’s sports. You are taking opportunities away from women who were born female. Like I said there are consequences when you make choices. Not be able to play sports against females born female might be a result of your choice

So the party that whines over lack of accountability and participation trophies now want the rules changed because of a mistake that has long been a golf rule. They just want to control it all.

Sounds like we'd get entitlement reform done real fast!
I would agree that the penalty is harsh. But isn’t that the rule at every level of golf? Golf, like tennis, has always had rules of decorum for players and spectators. Isn’t it more important to teach the player that the rules apply to everyone? Should we change the score of a basketball or soccer contest because the player inadvertently scored an own goal?
The bigger issue is that the legislature has no business being involved.

From the party of "small government". If they get their way with this, what's next? They won't stop with this. As they say, rules are rules.

I don't like the overstepping. Now that McInnis made waves with the football playoffs you will see more of this.

Remember, about 15 years ago a House Rep or Senator had the conferences changed without notify the NCHSAA before the vote. They had requested to meet with him and others. He got it put for a vote first thing in the morning and got it passed. Helped his couple of schools but the ripple effect caused issues for other schools.

The association should ignore the request. Roberto De Vincenzo once lost a Master’s because he made a mistake on his scorecard and that’s always been a rule in golf.
But one state senator does not “the legislature” or even his own party make. We all know how this happens: the kid’s parents reach out to their state rep who promises to make a few calls, part of the job of a legislator is to do constituent work, even if it goes nowhere. Now that that’s all done the NCHSAA can move on, and they should.

I know nothing about golf. IF he listed his score as 76 and it was 75 I would have zero issue with it and would expect NO punishment but he went the other way. How did the discrepancy come out? Did he self report or did someone else note it? That is also a big difference to me.

I would think if the golfer qualifies with a 76 that removing him from the next round is a bit harsh. Can he be punised with a worse seed or tee time or something?

I am obviously not an expert so do not chastise me too much if I am way off.

Have become a huge fan of women's college volleyball. University of Nebraska sold out Memorial Stadium for a match in 3 days. 85,000 tickets for a volleyball game. Talk about a revenue boost.
