This all reminds me of former Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice and then AD Tim Pernetti.

Cases like these should be studied by athletic directors everywhere on how to handle these situations.

In both cases, the AD tried to minimize/reduce the penalty and ultimately financial losses. It backfired drastically and in turn, put pressure on the ADs themselves.

Lesson to be learned: fire the head coach immediately if abuse is involved. Stop the fire before it spreads.

It is only worse if you're in a large media market (NYC metro are and Chicago metro area). Lots of coverage.
In Pernetti's case, he did not want to minimize the situation - he actually wanted to can Rice, but university officials and lawyers to him that he could not do that.

Here is a copy of his resignation letter.

I assume under Al's logic Greg gets a free pass on this game since he has only had 3+ years to rebuild our program, while the new Northwestern coach will have had the luxury of less than 3 month to rebuild his program for the game.

Poor guy. He’ll probably get three year salary and get to sit at home collecting it minus the 12 hour days. The guy’s laughing his a$$ off all the way to the bank. Go to college football games and pay your $5 for a bottle of water or $12 for a beer fools !

No "fired for cause" in that contract?

You’re clowning yourself

You are trying to have us believe that black frats don’t haze , which is not true, and you never explained why you believe so.

Is getting branded at a fraternity function hazing? Because I have two black friends who were branded by their fraternities. I was told it was common.

Greek letters are usually what is branded , which is claimed to be showing loyalty to their fraternity

Have you seen our recruiting class? Two four stars and the rest a group of really solid prospects with an excellent chance of contributing if not as starters, then as quality depth. Could anyone else have recruited such a class after 3 seasons of losing? I would venture to say No. Now it’s no longer a question of If, it’s a question of how soon is Rutgers going to win. We are firmly in the path to success. This year and next year don’t matter. 2025 is when we start competing for real.

Ok, I didn't realize they were all signed, for a minute there I was a little worried thinking they were just verbal commitments, and I don't need to remind a recruiting expert like yourself what little value a verbal commitment is from a 17 year old child is in today's world of college football.

Based on history, most will be signed. There are always a few that might be poached, but that goes with the territory.

that's why only the HC was dumped.
I assistants were let go the verbals would find another home and many already on roster would leave.
The assistants stayed not because they didn't know, but to keep the recruits
committed and keep roster players out of the portal..

I'm sure the assistants not being let go for cause, but keeping their positions will be used by Fitzgerald's laywers when he fights for buyout saying his role didn't call for a for cause firing

Yeah I looked it up after seeing the thread. Seems they're just ditching the guy because he's obnoxious and lost 40 games this year.
