He’s the only one who has been silent. Norvell Sark Lanning all out with tweets about about sticking around.

Sexton got them nice bumps and now working to get the actual deal done for DeBoer. Must be good to be him lol.

Washington should just promote Ryan Grubb….or hire Pete Carroll lol. It’s ironic Ryan Grubb turned down the Alabama OC spot last year when Saban offered and this year DeBoer is taking the HC spot.

Washington losing a lot of players to the draft so with a rebuild in the works, he might rather go to Alabama. Plus he’s a gutsy tyoe who might be intimidated by following Saban. He’ll get a ton of money either way.

Well could be good for us with the upheaval in Washington and them on our schedule. Portal after a coaching change might deplete the roster as well

Bama's getting a good one.
Just wonder how DeBoer will handle the Saban comparison in the beginning of his
Crimson Tide career.
Winning big will be a help, but if first year has 2 or more regular season losses
the fanbase will act like he's Ray Perkins after Ray replace the Bear

Except from an Athletic article.

Still wasn’t sure he’d take it and follow a legend in a conference he’s never coached in but he does have exude that quiet confidence where you could see him be willing to attempt it.

From the article:

Kalen has a humble swagger to him,” said a former Washington staffer who spoke under condition of anonymity. “His temperament is very unique. He doesn’t swear. He stays very steady all the time.”

If not Grubb that’s still a solid lists of candidates Thamel put out. Actually kind of surprised to see some of the names on it.

Lance Leipold, Clawson, Klieman have that kind of background.

I was wondering about that. I think if Grubb gets promoted he might stay but I’d say it’s up in the air. If they both leave I’d think Rogers would leave too.
If Grubb isn't the choice, Arizona's Fisch might be

If it’s not Grubb (P5 OC for two years only and UW had bad experience with last coordinator elevation of Lake after Petersen), I’d go with Leipold, Klieman or Campbell. I like their longer longer track records over Fisch.

Rumor has it he pressured UW to reject PAC 12 media deal that could have salvaged conference but instead killed it off. Not sure how true, but he doesn't have a lot of fans outside of Washington and a reason most of country was rooting for Michigan despite all of Harbaugh's shenanigans.

I would doubt it. He’s not even the AD let alone president to have any sort of big influence on massive decisions like that.

Well that stinks for when we play Alabama for the title.
Don't worry Kyle's at Texas , so he won't give DeBoer Schiano's offensive playbook when RU plays Bama for the NC
But we should be concerned about who Washington hires to replace DeBoer.
We should want Washington to hire someone that will keep that program good for the B1Gs sake

I think Lanning made the right decision. I understand why DeBoer took it , effectively doubling his salary. He is an excellent coach and certainly doesn’t lack confidence.. However, he is going into the ultimate pressure cooker. Following a legend , especially in college football, is usually an impossible situation. If ‘Bama goes 9-3 next season, they will be calling for his head.

Fisch would have to pay the UA $5.5 million to leave for UW, so they might not want to pony up that type of money with a good candidate in house
They’re getting 12M from Alabama so if they really liked him they could but I think other candidates mentioned are better imo because of the length of track record.

Have already seen two UW defensive players jump in the portal.

Never follow the legend. Follow the person who followed the legend. I don't understand why he would leave Washington for a job that will be too hard to meet expectations. It is not like he would have been poor in Seattle and needs more money than they were offering him.

Washington doubled his salary to 9M or so but Alabama probaby offered him over 10M and for longer. Plus he might want to be at a school with a real chance for NCs but of course that comes with its own burdens especially after Saban. He’s willing to take that on so more power to him. He’ll be very well off no matter what.
