Please let this happen. Satisfies all parties in regard to MSU.

We don't have to play him, it's not USM and they actually play Kentucky and Tennessee next year with new coaches as well. Might even be favored in those games. UK on the road and UT will hopefully be without Bray, Hunter and Patterson. Or they could all 3 come back, in which case would suck.

The Little Caesar's Bowl might get some sizzle.

I'm assuming this is the interim coach, so anything would be welcomed:

and the internet has responded appropriately:

The game against UK is a "home" game at LP Field. It will be interesting if UK and UT get any pressure to get out of those games. Both fanbases had plenty of folk who were clamoring for BP. Can you imagine the divisivness that would be created if either team (or both) loses to WKU right out of the gate?

Ransdell, the President of WKU, is known as a very conservative sort. But hiring Harper and now Petrino shows he is willing to swing for the fences no matter what the baggage.

Wonder if Bjork would have hired him.

Yes. Because Ransdell calls the shots at WKU. And Bjork was always smart enough to go along with the boss.

He wanted to fire McDonald after 3 seasons but backed off when a major booster told Ransdell THEY would back off if he went through with it. But, Bjork orchestrated bringing Harper in as an assistant and when he finally pulled the trigger half way through last season, Harper led a really bad team to the NCAA's. By that time EVERYBODY was on board.

This from Petrino ...
A source close to Petrino told Schad the coach views Western Kentucky as a program with an excellent administration with vision and a commitment to facilities and other elements necessary to win.
