Essentially you're confessing to being the kid who was signed out of sex ed by mom and dad.

I didn't grow up in a progressive area and no one in my class was. Sad.
I and nobody else was being taught the things in 5th grade that kids are now exposed to.

Why don't you go flap your tits around in a drag show for the 5th graders. I'll eagerly await how ****** up your kids will grow up to be with someone who seemingly doesn't give a ****.

You literally must just sit around consuming Newsmax all day and never lived in the real world kid. You're entire argument in this thread is a straw man.

For the record, I've got some issues with Wokeism in our schools, and kinda rock with DeSantis on alotta this stuff. But you gave no facts in this thread and just spit nonsense.

In all seriousness, professors have lost the true meaning of higher education as well. I'd argue our entire country has.

Can't argue that...although I'd say it's generally concentrated in the humanities and social sciences. We simply need more intellectual and theorhetical diversity in academia, rather than a social club of grievance scholars. And it's of course fine to have them too, but there needs to be a wider debate, not some consensus of intersectional system theory. It's to the point of being not academic at all. Boring and basic tbh.

Concerned about the budget surplus? The property tax relief? Their own little hometowns that set the property tax? What is the concern, other than the dude has a "D" in front of his name? Still crying about COVID restrictions 3 years later? Is it the fact he did NOT impose further restrictions once the vax was out...unlike in NYC and CA?

It happens on both sides and its dumb these days. 95% of people do not have a solid grasp on political issues, yet take such a personal stance and tie it so much to their self-identities it's a bit unhealthy. It's also humorous, since the bulk of R's were literal neocons 15 years ago, but now rage against "globalists" and embrace some type of white welfare grievance thing. While on the other side, you've got people who claimed the objective intellectual high-ground and were the peace-nicks 15 years ago, now openly embracing subjective nonsense, fake news, anti-intellectualism, flat out communism, non-tolerance, and war.

It's 95% BS fueled by marketing and people wanting to belong to some cultural grouping. Give it a rest in general. The dude tweeted about the basketball team. I'm not sure the Mendham, West Long Branch, and Somerset suburbanite contelingent on this board is so overwhelmed with personal hardship that they cannot afford to expend any anguished emotional energy on liking a tweet without having to first put forth a qualifier. It's the same with the types who have to say "hate his politics" every time someone posts or references a Springsteen song these days.

Spare us all the melodrama will ya?

🙄
This is exactly what I was referring to . A person can’t make comments or suggestions about the current situation someone is in , whether it be state or federal , without someone like you coming all in dismissing our concerns , blasting whatever party you think we are part of and name calling . People like you need to chill out and allow others to
have their political views without your demeaning lectures.

So what is your concern? I think people are just full of it and consume too much identity politics nonsense. What is so hard on these suffering souls? The property tax levied by the towns YOU choose to live in? Where did Murphy hurt you? My take is that most political opinions are borne out of feelings and cultural identity rather than rational thought. Sorry.

Have them all you want, but to be melodramatic and feel the need to express them anytime someone with a D in front of their name is mentioned, is ridiculous and uneeded. You guys start the conversation, and then love to play the victim when someone calls you out...even though you supposedly hate victimhood politics.

Sorry, I find it entertaining to ridicule people on both sides about their "political" opinions. I find them to be shallow and misplaced more often than not, and am a tad sadistic in that area. From years of hearing people spout nonsense about nothing with no actual knowledge, but a ton of "feelings", and millions of idiotic voters on both sides screwing up this society with their unfounded absurdity.

My taxes haven't gone up since two 400lbers were removed from office.

Oh and I own a condo in a doorman building, not in Milltown though.

I guess Gov Murphy supporting NJ's only high major program is triggering.

But he's supported community colleges as well, so South Orange Community alums should feel welcome.

Close enough, so you pay virtually no property taxes, and have no kids in the schools, so no horse in any race. Doorman, lol. Do you have a Tesla you want to humble brag about, too?

Murphy should support the state school, I have no problem with that. But don't tell me he's a fantastic governor.

Only high major, that's funny, particularly after you just sneezed away a bid.

What an insecure child you are. Most Rutgers grads I know personally would never look down on what, in the end, was essentially an equivalent undergraduate education. Mostly because they have class. None are Boomers, though, that would be my parents, born during the "baby boom." You're north of 40 easily, right?

You still have not put forth anything of substance. What is wrong with politics in general, are people like you. You have no handle on the issues but have painted yourself into a corner regardless and vote that way, probably without pause or consideration, every time. I'm a swing voter, a member of the community who helps to inform those around me and take down BS and narratives from both sides on a regular basis.....so that people can shed their false sense of having a monopoly on what's "right".... I am pointing out what is wrong with political discussions and you're feeling victimized by it. Stop deflecting.

Murphy is an authoritarian fascist jackass that sent sick people into nursing homes and assisted living facilities , but he’s been friendly to Rutgers Athletics.

I think most here would agree that both are true regardless of registered political affiliation

Aren't you a Trump guy?

@Proud NJ Sports Fan @RUbacker For the record, I liked Jack, but think Murphy has done a pretty good job...even though I voted for Gaudagno the first time. So I voted for Murphy this time, but certainly would vote Jack next election. I don't have the problem of making political party a part of my self identity. I'm liberated. Only care about objective fact...politics, and those so motivated to one side or the other about them, are a whole lotta BS

I’m also an Independent and would like to see every Gov support Rutgers athletics

Jack is a real moderate and deserved to win based on his true middle of the road platform (Murphy is very far left) and all of the hustling he did around the State for a year leading up to election month

He made an appearance at a RU tailgate , I think some fans here met him that day. He also met with Devils fans outside of The Rock. I see no reason why he wouldn’t also support RU plus he’s a real Jersey guy unlike Murphy

I agree on everything you said...although I think Murphy has governed a bit more moderate than his leftist virtue signaling would indicate.

Look what just happened at Stanford
Not sure what happened at Stanford, but I think any school that makes students pay 40k + a year for a gender studies degree should be investigated.

Like oh gee I can’t believe I can’t pay off my student loans debt with this gender studies degree I got! People are morons, schools are taking advantage of that.

The vast majority of undergraduate students at Stanford go to school for free. They take care of those that get in.

I understand people being concerned with high taxes and waste, but the environmental/wildlife concerns over windmills are grossly overstated - you're listening to too many people who hate the aesthetics of windmills ruining their view.

https://www.ucsusa.org/resources/environmental-impacts-wind-power

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/02/11/whale-deaths-and-windmills/11178432002/
I could show you a half dozen articles that say otherwise. In the end, if we’re talking about one of NJs most valuable resources, there should be more certainty. Part of the issue is what’s being done, but the other part is how he’s doing it (executive orders, and stripping coastal communities of their rights).

So, @toby83 who is one of the least likely posters here to, say, get a math scholarship, posts a political meme in the second post. Then, he has to edit the post to take our language that doesn't comply with the posting guidelines of the forum.

He probably is wondering why he has only 7 likes and the post explaining why he was wrong has 87 likes. Must be hard for him.

Oh I plenty of property taxes.

You tried to diss on a "hovnanian house in Milltown" like that's some kind of an own...and don't like when facts are in your face?

Literally no one outside of South Orange Community feels that it's an equivalent to Rutgers academically.

It's like a Montclair with 4x the tuition and less social life.

Oh and I'm south of 40, lol.

Gender Studies degrees are happening all over the country. it's sad

Rutgers has one of the strongest womens' studies programs in America and their professors are constantly consulted in studies and media internationally.

What college students study isn't your choice or mine, It has no effect on us.

Anyone going to Stanford and most people going to RU are going to get a job very easily after no matter what they study.

What a kid majors in is none of our concern. As long as they work hard find jobs after graduation and add something to society.

That’s all nice and dandy, but these degrees aren’t helping anyone be successful after graduation from a fiscal perspective.

They being little to no value.

Rutgers’ in state tuition is roughly 16k and out of state roughly 33k.

Tack on guaranteed loans and these students are receiving gender studies degrees in 4 years for 64k and 132k. Obviously there are more expenses that go into college than just tuition as well.

The reality is that degree doesn’t translate to a career that justifies an expense like that.

You’re just putting americas youth behind the 8 ball and making them play catch-up from day 1.

The individuals can do whatever they want, it’s their life. I just don’t think people are being honest about it and I think the schools are certainly taking advantage of it.

No, they aren't and trump is garbage. Desantis is the one who can lead this country.

They're showing them sexual scenes depicting masturbation. I would say that's far worse. Because I'm a normal, intelligent human being.

"Fifth graders learn about romantic and sexual feelings, masturbation, mood swings, and the timing of puberty"

"eighth graders should know the definitions of vaginal, oral, and anal sex"

Anyone supporting this might as well be a pedofile. How about we let kids grow up on their own and use the usual sex Ed when it's age appropriate? But hey! Murphy gave Rutgers money so nothing else matters and anyone that says otherwise is in a cult.
If Murphy had an "R" after his name, instead of a "D", you would bend over backwards to defend him.

You're another one who is so good at being a pretentious, pompous, unlikeable prick that you should be paid for it..... so you can call yourself a professional dickhead.

If you want, I’ll gather and forward, but what you, me, and all citizens should be just as concerned about, is how this is being handled. Laws that gave towns rights are being abolished by our governor. He is basically telling them that they will have no say as to what happens on their properties. Projects of this magnitude deserve due diligence, with all parties being heard. Not railroaded through, with any opposition being squelched.

You say that but many if not most will get a phd, JD, MBA (RU has a program for liberal arts majors to get MBA among others).

A RU degree will set you up for life. If it's from the Univ of Phoenix you'd be right.

That's a very different argument and a potentially fair one, but I haven't read much about the potential property issues - I was only commenting on the largely faux environmental issues being used to try to delay/cancel the windmill projects.
