Anybody else listening to this?
Dyess called in bemoaning the fact that State offered Jordan prior to his junior year and that the offer is no longer on the table. Never mind that Jordan never accepted the offer and committed.

Is he for real?

Mullen and Freeze don't want to develop talent

or some crap like that...

Just heard a snippit earlier about Bo being Bo and feeling the need to trash other people who know way more about sports than he does

Yeah Freeze and Mullen should recruit less talented players...

I don't see USM offering this kid.

I heard that Jordan came to Big Dawg and didn't look real good. He was evaluated throughout the season and never impressed the staff. The fact that he made dandy dozen was also in question. He is a juco player as of now. If his coach is pissed about that, then he needs to get over it. Getting on the radio to ***** about it doesn't look very professional, if he was indeed complaining.

Another example of butt-hurt coaches. This guy has an axe to grind. Shady craps been going on in Philadelphia for years. Again, this is why Mississippi will never accomplish anything, too much ego and we eat each other.

To get on the radio and call out Freeze and Mullen is crazy. And to accuse them of being unwilling to develop players???

While I think Dyess is a good coach and one of the better ones in the state, compare coaching in Mississippi to that in Georgia or Alabama. I'm guessing Mississippi player probably require more development.

Reckless for sure. I just hope it doesn't end up impacting the kid. One of these schools could end up with an extra spot for whatever reasons.

Jordan was highly thought of early on. After teams got him in camp, they starting realizing that he had stiff hips and a slow change of direction (not good for a defensive back). Basically, he didn't live up to the hype, and probably never will. Teams changed their evaluation. It happens in the NFL when players go to the combine or work out for teams. They rise or fall when teams get a closer look. Mullen and Freeze don't mind developing. But they, like all coaches, try to do a good job evaluating on the front end. They've done that and decided the guy isn't good enough to be in a class that is limited to 25.

Agree. Guy shouldn't be burning bridges for Jordan or any other player that comes out of that craphole town. But I think there's more to it than that, there's so much dirty money around there.

Well Bounds kind of started the whole thing which is the snippet I heard. Bo gave him the Russell Earkslavan award for Earkcillance. So Bounds was being a lil' ***** to start it off. Pretty sure Dyess was listening this morning just like everybody else and had a go at him on the air.

Not sure what Bounds said, but he was discussing the article that was in the CL this week about this whole topic.
Dyess for some reason called in to discuss it.

I've known Dyess and his wife for 14 years. I played at MC when Teddy was on the staff. I can 100% guarantee you Dyess didn't/doesn't take any illegal benefits for recruiting from anyone. He is as standup a guy as you will meet. Dyess is also a hot head and apparently Jordan's recruitment has touched a nerve. He may sound bad in going on OOB & trashing MSU/OM but he doesn't care about either school. His only interest is defending the kid. Now if you want to say he is picking a bad way to do so, that's fine.

All high school coaches are hot heads. Big egos too. And trust me, I know Dyess isn't a Philly lifer (thank God on his part) but there's plenty of dirty money running through that town.

Agree about Dyess. I think his only motivation is in looking out for his kids.
And given all the trash surrounding the CJ situation, I just don't think he was involved in any of that.

Whoa, is this the same guy that coached CJ Johnson?

Somebody should ask him why it's okay for a player to backtrack on a non-binding verbal commitment but it's not okay for a school to do it.

Does he get on the radio and rail on players when they back down on their verbal commitments?

Well Mullen did an incredible job evaluating kids like Banks and Chris Jones who no one else even paid attention to until Jones blew up this year. Going from unheard of, we evaluate him, offer him on the spot and he gives us a verbal to now the #2 recruit by position in the nation. I will trust that Mullen is doing it the correct way. Dyess is just pissed that he didn't have any Chris Jones' this year. And I am sure all the CJ hype swelled his head even more that he can produce players like this.

As a native of Philadelphia....

I'm curious what basis you have for your "dirty money" comment. I don't see Philadelphia as being any better or worse than any other similar sized town in Mississippi in that regard.

Shouldn't the high school coach be developing the HS player to get him ready for college.

If the kid isn't ready for the SEC, it isn't Mullen or Freeze's fault.

Either the kid simply doesn't have the skill set or the HS coach didn't develop him enough to get him ready for SEC level play.

I played softball with dyess years ago and to say that he is a little bit whiney is an understatement. He is also a usm homer and coming from people very close to terry grant's recruitment, he showed his *** to a minor extent to the bama coaches after grant committed to them.

Just curious, who did you play for? I also played against him for many years and we were even on the same team one year. I don't agree with him on this particular phone call he made, but I never got the impression he was a little *****. But different circumstances can make people look at a person different, I guess.

.....can't give away my sources, though. But to get right down to it, Philadelphia just sucks in general.

Finally, something I know a lot about....Philadelphia does not "suck in general"...whatever that means. Dyess is a blow hard who plays patsy schedules and is looking to get his win total up so he can move on. He also is a hot head and probably is popping off not so much for the kid but the get noticed himself. He is nuts getting on the radio doing this. The money in Philadelphia isn't any more dirty than anywhere else. All of this is a fact. Believe me, I know.

Jordan was unimpressive all season and his off the field demeanor is less than desirable.

This the same Dyess who nearly fought with an opposing coach during the playoffs a few years ago? The same guy MHSAA fined for not controlling his team during a game? The same guy that tried to force Terry Grant to USM? The same guy that has no problem with his players breaking their promises? The same guy that isn't condemning USM for not taking him? Surely if Dyess thinks the kid is good enough for SEC ball, he should think he'd be a superstar in CUSA.
He can take that **** somewhere else. The guy's got issues. I don't care if he's a "good guy", he's still an idiot.
