Will be very interesting once UCLA/USC join the Big Ten and Texas/Oklahoma join the SEC to bring each conference up to 16 schools. Will we see 10+ bids from each in a year? There are 36 at large bids.... will they allow 18 to go to just two conferences? And how will the seeding work to avoid same-conference collisions? Or will they have more instances of leaving out deserving teams to prop up weaker mid-majors with sparse resumes?

If they get their way, there will be 90 teams in the tournament in a few years.

They have to protect each other from the big bad conferences hogging all the bids and all the money. They have no power other than this process.

I hope it’s not laziness in fitting in 3 B1G teams in one region, but wouldn’t be surprised

Big 10 hate because they disrupted the college landscape
Still not sure why the Atlantic Sun commissioner would care? The MWC is closer to the Big Ten than it is to the leagues that have no hope of getting multiple bids.

The selection committee is 50%? from small conferences so I fully expect them to be given a set number of bids. I predict adding teams won't work in our favor in this instance.

The old big east got 11 in one time.

Still no one seems to have an answer for why the ADs from 1 bid conferences would care about power shifts between the PAC 12/10 and the B1G 16? How does this impact the Northeast Conference, SWAC, MEAC, Horizon League, Summit League, etc? What incentive do they have to boost the ACC or the MWC at the expense of the B1G?

Well for starters the UNC ad is on the committee

Pike also said Hofstra is good and they’re playing to show they belong too. 4K tickets have been sold . Team will play to get to Vegas.

Pike said he hopes to be breaking down game film, but still plans on watching March madness. He’s interested in uconn and his daughter’s lax team at unc??
The fact that the finals are in Vegas should be good motivation for the team. Much better trip than MSG

This x100 is my firm belief. Once PSU beat NW and MD and passed us in the metrics we were cooked. All those commissioners from smaller conferences were not letting in 9 B1G teams. They just constructed a narrative to fit that outcome. That’s why Nevada is in and 90% of bracketologists had the wrong call on RU. The objective criteria had us in.
And Minnesota’s AD, who I believe was on the selection committee, didn’t do the right thing.

Eff Minnesota. Eff the big ten for not backing us.

amazing the lengths many Rutgers fans will go to look for ways to blame us when we get outright hosed.

and we wonder why we get no respect
RU/NJ self-loathing can be unparalleled at times, can't it? Some "fans" here seem to live for the opportunity to point out what we do wrong. GO RU!

Yup .I said it often the "experts" here who by the way were wrong about what mattered , think they look smarter by using the blame game . They think they look tough and smart by criticizing . Classic bandwagoners.

That's going to be problematic for the Selection Committee for sure.
I don't know how they'll handle it but I'd bet it will be sub-optimal and non transparent.

Tired of hearing "but the mid majors....."
Same with CFP.
Just pick the best teams.
Don't care about "exposure or opportunity for lower conferences."

If the lower conferences don't like it - let them leave instead.
What are they really adding anyway?

Illini fan here. I lurk on your board from time to time because I respect the Rutgers program and I find you guys knowledgeable. Anyways, just wanted to post that yesterday when Underwood gave his press conference regarding the Illini's tournament seeding, etc. , he finished up his press conference saying Rutgers should be in, that he was shocked they were left out. (wasn't prompted) Just wanted to share, haven't seen that mentioned.
Much respect to Coach underwood. After we beat Illinois I think it was last year he had an interview talking about Getting beat up and it led to a discussion of him talking about fighting as a youth/young man. It was awesome!
