I think people have forgotten the incoming 2024 class is very strong with several potential contributors. It possibly could be restructured adding some things that equate to continued success. Not only $$$$ / years but attempting to keep some key assistants. STABILITY. BTW : One player I’m still confused about is the DE player from Brooklyn who Richie keeps showing as 100% Rutgers?

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are saying. Paying a head coach more after one good season doesn't buy winning. Many examples were given.

Then he should have had escalation clauses in his contract to cover contingencies. That's on him and his agent.
As I noted in replies above, we have other important spend issues for the program. Having interacted with Greg at donor events, he has emphasized these needs. I doubt he would do it, but never once did he bring up more money for himself. What's wrong with waiting another year to see how 2024 unfolds?

Let's see if he can stabilize the program via back-to-back 6 or more wins. That would be a reasonable justification for an extension.

$8 mill was a throw out number. right now he is the lowest paid coach in the BIG with several years under his belt. I am just worried that Coach will be offered by another program and we will end up with a new Chris Ash. I am tired of that. Lets Reup at the end of the season and keep coach happy and on the banks for good.

He could get paid nothing or $10M dollars. That is not the issue, but rather the contract term showing the school is committed to him as a coach for the time the player will be there. A parent involved in a player's decision making will also look for that too. NIL does change the equation but maybe not as much as we think.

I think some of the other coaches are good (like OL) and need to be kept. If they get a bump and the HC doesn't it looks wonky. Tide will have to raise most boats at some point imo.

Schiano seems to be doing yje job he was hired to do, end the losing and start winning.
Year 2 was a 5-7 year with a bowl game to boot. Might have just earned his pay
Last year's 4-8 was a disappointment, a step back it might seem.
But happy days are here again with the second bowl game in 4 years coming up in the
G2 era.

Yes - it’s truly unbelievable. I thought our performance and the side by side visual of the post 2019 resumes of “the rest of the field” relative to Schiano would put this to bed. I guess not.

I’m not saying GS needs a contract extension right now. In fact, I think the timing is terrible with a series of potential losses against top teams looming. But this nonsense that Greg has just done his job and nobody would be impressed by what he’s stepped in and done for our 2019 train wreck is mind boggling.

Calling on some help from both ends of the Schiano spectrum. Please send me your flavors of 2023 to add to the stock tracker menu. I will expand it to provide a comprehensive look at where Greg sits relative to not only the pool of 2019 candidates but also the field of realistic candidates who could replace him right now if he left Rutgers. It is not inconceivable that Rutgers loses out and finishes 6-7 as Rutgers is likely an underdog in the remaining games. Do you really need to jump and reward a guy for a losing season? He has 4 years left and he not going anywhere. I feel even if he has a breakout he not going to leave so there is no rush to lock him up. If he is 8-4 then yes I think it would be warranted but other than that anything 1 year extension.
