UK does not need to pay top 10 money to be competitive. In the current SEC, UK needs to have its bar as 8/9 wins, w/ a consistent 6/7. If you catch lightning in a bottle then you may see 10, as Stoops fortunately did twice. We are not competing for the SEC title, and in this day of NIL, there will be plenty of cash to divy out to see that 6-9 win season routinely. There are plenty of bright coaches who would love to coach in the SEC and you won't have to empty the kitty to get them.

If we start getting nil in order, i agree. Until then, 6 wins is our ceiling. We cant compete in this new environment without money.

Also there wont be a young bright coach willing to risk their entire career to play the toughest schedule in the nation with their hands tied behind their back.

I’ve been a big proponent of building a statue of Stoops. Was willing to overlook a bad year here and there. But eventually reality smacks you right in the face and you have to face the facts…..

Stoops is terrible. Has always been awful at game management and in game adjustments. Awful at time management and 2 minute drills. But at least he had some fire in him (and not just from the bourbon).

We cant score. And we dont win. I have no clue how anyone can still support him after these last 3 years. Blind loyalty, I presume. If there was even the smallest glimpse of hope he could turn it around, I could see it. But, come on.

We are gonna win 3 games this year 😂 with no hope it gets better in sight. Is it gonna take a 2 win season for some of you to wake up? Or do we have to be loyal to him forever no matter what? Would love to know when it’s okay to become disloyal. Never?

I 100% believe his personal life has affected his coaching. That may be unfair, but going through a nasty divorce because of your own life choices can be devastating.

This site reporting that is bad news though. My phone just flipped out trying to block their pop-ups and some malware. I'd recommend not clicking on that link.
Are you discrediting their account of it because they have pop-ups on their site? I read it just fine, just had to X out of one thing to read it. Regardless, there are plenty of other outlets out there talking about how insane this bill is.

I looked up and read the actual bill.

Any Juan, Pedro or Harry can go into a school fill out a form saying they have guardianship of a child, no parental signature, notification or notarized signatures required and no questions asked. And I interpreted from the text that no school employee could be held accountable if something goes wrong.

I still cant believe the majority of our fans still routinely trash the best OC we ever had and one of the best in the nation. All because he had to adjust to talent and run the ball.

Gran was so masterful the Bowden year, installing two completely different brand new offenses on the fly, it literally moved Chris Doering to tears on SEC Nation. It was that incredible.

Next season, the covid year, the cries get too loud and he agreed to get fired so we could move on.
Firing Gran was the start of this slide and revolving door of OC's losing John Schlarman didn't help matters either. SUre we had a modicum of success with Coen and Levis, but it was still a departure from what we were doing successfully for several seasons prior, then Coen decided to have wandering eyes and things went downhill from there. Gran showed loyalty and I believe would still be the OC if he hadn't been fired. Stoops inability to build an offensive identity off the success he was having and recruit to that, really left us in the position we are in now.

Maybe Stoops can get his luster back somewhere else, it's gone here though. Buyout or not, they will lose more in revenue by keeping him than his buyout would cost. Him moving on would solve a lot of that. I half think (jokingly....sort of) that if Stoops is in fact a finalist at VT or somewhere else even, that Mitch should get on the phone and offer them up a few million and maybe even a future game or two to tip the scales. Get off a lot cheaper than his buyout.

"You go along in the states, Democrats run out of room! Republicans are able to gain, gain, GAIN...of +7 House seats. That does NOT even take into account the potential gutting of the VRA before the Supreme Court."

"If both sides max out [redistricting], there are MORE REPUBLICAN GAINS possible than Democrat gains!" "Add that in - 10, 12, 15, 17 seats - ON TOP of these 7 seats!"

"Democrats are NO LONGER keeping pace with 2017-2018! The Democrats had an 8-point advantage!" "It hasn't happened! Democrats have stayed basically steady, fallen off the pace. WAY out

ahead back in 2017 on the generic Congressional ballot - but now we're looking at Democrats ahead, but so far back in the pace." "Folks are saying - wait a minute, given redistricting, is Democrat+3 enough?! [to flip the House]"

DESANTIS: “The constitutionality of racial gerrymandering will be argued before the Supreme Court this week.”

“If the Court finds the use of race to be unconstitutional then it will necessitate new congressional redistricting in a number of states, including Florida.”

Clarence Thomas has indicated he will take a BLOW TORCH to the Voting Rights Act discriminatory district drawing.

She is YELLING at the counsel and is clueless as to how the VRA processed even worked in Louisiana.

JACKSON: The answer is OBVIOUSLY yes you have an interest in remedying the effects of racial discrimination using this tool! Whether you go too far in your remedy is another issue, RIGHT?!

AGUINAGA: Your honor, step zero is the plaintiffs came in and said, 'We want another majority-black district.'

JACKSON: I thought they came in and said we're not receiving equal electoral opportunity because our votes are being diluted!

AGUINAGA: That's the same way as saying we want another majority-black district...

JACKSON: NO IT'S NOT! Just trust me on this!! The 2nd district is a remedy that one COULD offer for a problem we've identified..

How embarrassing. Trust me on this is the most embarrassing phrase in history ever uttered by a scotus judge.

Cases dont turn on trusting one judge's personal beliefs. They turn on the law. At least they're supposed to.
She will ultimately replace Kamala Harris as the mascot of DEI. Completely unqualified for the job she has.

The biggest problem for Gran, imo, was a perception problem. He couldn't land good enough QBs because UK was perceived as a ground game school. That's a perception that seems to be indelible.

The biggest problem is and always has been money. QBs want to be the star in a pass heavy offense. That's the perception of what gets them drafted high, and maybe it's true. But I look at a kid like Jalen Hurts with his ability and think that's exactly what I want in my QB at UK. Not much different in skillset than SJohnson and TWilson, just to another level in terms of his passing ability and reading defenses.

I thought we were heading that direction and building up to it as a staple. Our best seasons were seasons with that dual threat ability at QB and a solid running game. Going away from Gran DID set us on this eventual slide. Losing JS took our heart. In spite of all that, the foundation is still there. It can be recovered.

I think Gran is the key to that, but I don't know if he even wants to be an OC again.

Maybe Stoops can get his luster back somewhere else, it's gone here though.

I get it. I just don't give 2 ****s about luster from outside the practice facility. If kids we are recruiting can see it, that's all that matters to me. THAT'S where we have to build from.

Buyout or not, they will lose more in revenue by keeping him than his buyout would cost. Him moving on would solve a lot of that. I still think thats what Mitch did with Arkansas. I can't help it. I have no facts to back it up. Just was too perfect of a mousetrap imo.

It's because they don't understand football. They only know what they think they've seen, and they've only seen gamedays. It's only a bad thing (if they think they know how it works) when they start talking like they know how it works and bad-mouthing the coach, players, and program. In most cases it's a basketball mentality being applied to football.

Basketball isn't as complicated as soccer or baseball. It's not even as complicated as volleyball. Not that they really know basketball either, but they are way out of their depth with football, and they're too arrogant to admit it.

Gran was so masterful the Bowden year, installing two completely different brand new offenses on the fly, it literally moved Chris Doering to tears on SEC Nation. It was that incredible.

A hall of fame retool the likes of which I'd never seen. And from that point in a season...

Just incredible

Next season, the covid year, the cries get too loud and he agreed to get fired so we could move on.

The offense in those 2 10 win seasons were built on the foundation that Gran and Schlarman laid. It's what allowed us to achieve as much as we did even after Gran stepped down.

There's still a chance to rebuild it, but it's nearly a from scratch process from last season. AT LEAST the imprint and reputation is still recent for kids coming up. They can see what's possible.

okay. perhaps you have strong feelings on this topic and would like to explore those? LOL.

Well played

I get your frustration, some people wanted him fired from day 1. i wasn't one of those ... i have supported him completely. I remember on June 19th, 2013 UK had 18 commits and was #1 in the country! that was fing exciting. Texas had 19 recruits and was #2. That was fun! That Stoops, while learning, had a fire in him.

They did all that without much support as well. Pretty amazing. Most didnt appreciate it while it was happening.

While i have supported him, I think he has lost his mojo here and I don't believe we'll get it back. I could be wrong and all i was really saying ... i understand why people are upset ... top 10 pay, should get better than top 75, top 50. I think if UK was rated in the Top 15/20 and went 3-5 or 5-3 in the SEC more people would be okay with that. I sure would.

I love the UK fans that would appreciate that. Unfortunately this is an ultimatum state. People are either on fire or dead cold. Always extremes.

You don't go from top 75 to top 15 in 10 years or 20 years. You get to top 15 over many decades. That's how perception changes unfortunately if you start from at or near the bottom.

What will tell the world that UK can be competitive is if we bounce back over the next few years, otherwise it will all be credited to Stoops.-Just a flash in the pan- because of what he was able to do.

I don't think it's impossible to recover even with Stoops here. Lulls happen with huge changes. The problem for fans will be reconciling their hurt feelings if we do. At some point they'll need to stop taking every little thing personally and be realistic in their assessment of the program.

Plenty here already do that, but not enough
