Back at DLI in 1985, the Air Force barracks were right next to the Marine barracks (almost at the top of the hill)
The Enlisted Club was at the BOTTOM of the hill, and so on Friday and Saturday nights, after closing, a lot of Marines and Air Force folks ended up walking back UP the hill in close proximity.
On at least 3 such occasions (early on), a very young and stupid HymanKaplan let the alcohol in his system convince him that he was the perfect person to "let those obnoxious jar heads" know "what was up"
I'm sure I don't need to tell you how that worked out...
After that, I became much more appreciative of the USMC, and grateful that they are on OUR side. In fact, I made friends with two of the guys that TAUGHT me that valuable lesson, and would often buy them a round at the club. And so, when I decided to pick on the Navy guys (who were on the other side of us) instead; my new Marine buddies kept me from having to cash the checks that my mouth wrote. So, I guess all I really have to say about it is: Semper Fi (and also that, for the most part, Air Force guys should learn to hold their booze, and keep their mouths shut

)
