NIL WAS a problem. Supposedly, the deal with JMI and the new Champions Blue, LLC deal are supposed to put us on a more level playing field and it also takes fundraising out of the coaches responsibilities which is good. They can still just show up and shake hands when asked to, but they don't need to be spearheading it anymore. Stoops has even said a lot of the NIL issues have been rectified, but time will tell if these deals and restructuring help. In the end you have to put a product on the field that kids want to play for and fans want to see.
The jmi deal will just make it worse. Much worse. First off they will be taking their cut. Worse though, they are in control of where nil goes, not the donors.
For example, lets say I win the lottery and want to donate 5 mil each to basketball and football. Jmi will accept the 10 mil but they decide where it goes. Im sure my preference carries major weight, but it isnt the deciding factor. If there is a girls basketball player they want to spend it on instead, they can.
It's crazy. There is a reason no one else is stupid enough to do this.
