Let's just say we have different taste in humor, which is perfectly fine.
I get that but Pelini isn't a better coach then Riley. And Beck sure isn't a better coach then Lang's so the punchline is lost.

You are a top poster; and your comment is a good one...Leave Tommy out of this discussion, he is not the scapegoat for the coaches. If this season fails, it's on the coaches.
You're right, he isn't. But if someone felt compelled to post a daily Bo Pelini slobberfest, it would probably look something like this:
Bo was like 3 plays and :20 from two conference championships and two BCS bowl games. Bo was like 3 plays and :20 from two conference championships and two BCS bowl games. Bo was like 3 plays and :20 from two conference championships and two BCS bowl games. Bo was like 3 plays and :20 from two conference championships and two BCS bowl games. Wouldn't you find that annoying as Hell?
I have no desire to see Riley gone. In fact, I don't even want to see his seat get warm until his own recruits are in place and they have had a chance to produce. I'm just tired to being beaten over the head with the notion that NU was just a whisker away from an 11-2 or 10-3 record last year, and that I'm a HATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR if I don't agree.Honestly, I feel we just need to play some games. It's year two. No one on this board is suggesting there should be no pressure on the coaching staff. It's Nebraska. There's always pressure on the coaching staff. A lot. I just think that this talk of "is it ok to be critical of the coaching staff yet" is a little premature. Let's see what year two shows us. I'm hopeful for a marked improvement, as I felt that we should have been at least 7-5/8-4, at the very least, during the regular season.
This year I actually expect better. If we don't do 7-5/8-4 then we need to send our staff packing. I just don't see that happening. Too many it seems just can't wait until the first mistake/loss to get started in the wreck this board "I'm angry at this hire" mentality. Sheesh, I want to win too, but feel so much better about the direction than I was ever under Pelini. Winning will bring us all together. I just hope that if we experience some rough patches that this place becomes a miserable place to visit because of a few who already have their tar/feathers/pitchforks ready to go.

I am actually feeling optimistic, however if we lose early and often and get blown out by Oregon it could be a long year. I would really like to see imporvement in the defense, I m just not sure we will be bettere there however - Offense as long as they dont try to force TA into being anNFL QB we will do fineHonestly, I feel we just need to play some games. Really?? because Oregon is a program two years removed from the MNC game and is certainly capable of beating us handily. We also play @Nothwestern and Indiana before the hard part of the schedule even starts - Our defense is going to have to gel quickly this yearDoes anyone actually think that will happen? Hypothetically, I agree that it would make for a long year.
We need to compete in the B1G championship game this year. Unless TA goes down with a major injury, anything less will be a disappointment.
If we start the season 3-3 it will be verrrrrrry long... But I don't think we start that way. Need to play the games so that we know what we have...Really?? because Oregon is a program two years removed from the MNC game and is certainly capable of beating us handily. I think we will make the B1G Championship game. We will be highly motivated and we'll be prepared.
We were competitive last year thats for sure - the problem is that we were competitive also with Purdue and Illinois along with WI, Iowa and MSUNot worried. This Oregon is not the same Oregon of two years ago. They have talent. We do too. Doesn't mean that we automatically defeat them. We'll show them respect, but I believe we'll beat them at home. Even if we don't, I just don't see a Wisconsin game. Maybe if Pelini was coaching. In every game last year we were competitive. Outside of victories, that's all you can ask for. I don't want to be embarrassed. It's gonna be a fun ride, regardless.
Just one year removed from the MNC game Nebraska finished the 2002 season with a 7-7 record.Really?? because Oregon is a program two years removed from the MNC game and is certainly capable of beating us handily.
think??
you are on record predicting 12-1 with a loss to OSU regular season and beating them to win the conference championship
I will expect you to lead the charge calling for Riley's head if we fail to even win the division .. as after all that is falling well short of what you think are realistic goals for this staff
herein lies the problem with some in the koolaid brigade ... they make wildly optimistic predictions ... think anyone who has the audacity to predict lesser achievement (8-9 wins) is an enemy of the program ... and then when the team/staff don't meet their lofty expectations they immediately become apologists
not even winning the division is a disastrous season if you expect a conference championship and 11 regular season wins .. I expect your evaluation of the staff come season's end to reflect these lofty expectations of yours
You're correct. "Think" was a poor choice of words. We will make the Championship game after we kick the dog snot out of Iowa.
Much better.
you realize that if everyone bought into your nonsense and the entire fan base and AD had their expectations set at 12-1 and a conference championship there would be a reasonable chance Riley would be gone after this coming year ... you are actually undermining this staff with your drivel
thankfully most of the fanbase aren't idiots and will view 9 wins as progress with ongoing optimism for the future rather than a miserable failure by those expecting 12-1
Now everybody knows that Santa is real! I asked him for a new football coach and it happened... I got my wish! You're now doing the equivalent of telling a 5-year-old there's no Tooth Fairy or that Santa ain't coming this year. Obviously you know the difference and are right, but is it really worth it with this guy?

There is a lot of truth to this post. You have an experienced senior QB, which doesn't happen every year. It will be a waste if they don't play to his strengths this year. If they do, we could indeed be in that championship game. That should be the expectation. Also, as another said, we were in every game last year. Let's hope those results were just an anomaly or due to transition. Mike Riley's program needs to continue the positive offseason momentum and establish itself in year two in the win column. We have a lot of talented players and there is no reason we should not be in that conference championship this year.We need to compete in the B1G championship game this year. This will be an interesting year with some blowout wins, finally! A ton of experience everywhere except OL & DL. I think that lack of experience in the trenches will be offset by their athleticism. I know people are extremely critical of our QB, but hey.....the kid has seen a lot of football. Our team definitely passes the eyeball test, and I believe they are well coached. I think we are in store for a surprisingly good year. Definitely capable of making Conf. championship game. This year Oregon and OSU won't be as strong and Iowa isn't a juggernaut at home. Wisconsin won't be able to overcome that crazy schedule. I'm predicting no more than 2 losses in the regular season and a matchup with Michigan in Conference title game. That one will be a toss up. Overall, Riley will gain a lot of respect and we'll set ourselves up for a very bright future!
The struggles we encountered last year will have made us strong and confident. Even with the young D-line I expect us to play with heart and athleticism. I'm straight up telling you we're gonna kick some butt this year.Agree with your post, and the post you replied to. It was a major transition last season. I think reasonable people expected us to struggle, but to win a couple of those close ones we lost. But the defensive philosophy, the offensive philosophy, all different and it takes time to get your system in place. That being said and understood, we should have pretty high expectations. We have the pieces in place to win the west. The west is not a juggernaut this season. If all else fails, beat Iowa. It will be fun to watch.
In the Deed the Glory, we have been in every game MR has coached here. Bo, Callyhan, Solich = No

Purdue?
Because a fan doesnt like losing to Purdue or Illinois??? if this becomes the norm then I think a lot of fans will be rooting for someone elseThen go root for another team Jean.
You know guys this act is getting old. Everybody knows what was going on last year. The thing is why do you guys insist on trying to cause trouble???Because a fan doesnt like losing to Purdue or Illinois??? if this becomes the norm then I think a lot of fans will be rooting for someone else

10 points isn't exactly a huge loss. Should it have happened against a team like that? No. But as much as people talk about not making excuses, the fact that we had Ryker Fyfe starting that game made a huge difference. Plus, it wasn't this staff's fault that the QB position was so thin that we had to have a walk-on starting like that.Purdue?
Yes that's going to play a major factor but if we play together as a team we will be fine.Youth and inexperience along both lines might be a reason.
Well, call me crazy. I root for the Huskers because I am from Nebraska-not because of how much they win or lose. I guess that's so old fashioned these days. It's all about bandwagoning with whomever is winning.Because a fan doesnt like losing to Purdue or Illinois??? if this becomes the norm then I think a lot of fans will be rooting for someone else

For you to even make that statement, shows a total lack of loyalty to the program and everything it stands for. If you would even think of rooting for someone else, then go now. Why wait? It's all about winning to you-no loyalty to anything else.
