Notre Dame drove that Pinstripe 2013 record crowd. We did draw very well in the 2011 Game. Temperatures in the mid-50’s certainly helped. Let’s hope we get a repeat.
My prediction of 40-45K was primarily based on expecting Miami to bring more fans than Iowa State but less than ND. Also taking into account I think a lot of RU fans will attend since we haven't been to a bowl in such a long time. I think we all agree the forecast for that day will have a big impact on how many tickets sell in the week leading up to the game and at the box office on gameday.

Weird mine shows the 2011 Bowl game.
Iowa St. travelled very well for that Bowl Game IIRC.
No way Miami brings that many fans….
Agree. I was convinced GT would've drawn as well if not better, than ISU, but Miami? Nope.

Miami will bring 1,000 fans and half of those fans will be wearing Miami gear bought at Modells and Sports Authority 20 yrs ago.

I can see 20,000 for RU, 15,000 for Miami, and 5,000-10,000 neutral. So about 40,000 - 45,000 total. Final numbers will be impacted by the weather.
You added an extra 0 for Miami. I would say 1500 is a closer number. This is from their game this year at home.

There was less than 15,000 at a home game against a top 10 team. Do you think 15k is going to show up to a meaningless bowl game against a 6-6 team?

They are a private school based in Florida but with a lot of alums and fans in this area. That said, you make a compelling counterpoint. I'll concede 15K Miami fans is unlikely.

You for one are fairly active in daily life… I think so… correct? You can do so many more things after age 60 in warm weather rather than cold. Now realize people who like skiing and all the other outdoor winter sports might disagree but I gotta believe warm is probably more conducive for an active lifestyle. Most doctor’s probably tell people with certain conditions move to “ warm” weather. Keep in mind I’m still in the cold tundra of NJ… pizza, foodie Mecca and Rutgers sports.
Yep, quite active and actually, I think I'm significantly more active here than I would be in Florida. In Florida there would be 5 months of weather (May through September is brutal for 80-90% of days) that I simply wouldn't want to do anything outside in - I do, when I'm there in the summer, but I don't like it and I do less of it than when I'm in NJ - and 7 months I'd be fine in.

In NJ, there are maybe 15-20 days in summer that are comparable to the heat in FL, but really only some of 3-4 months that are too cold to do outside activities and even for those months (Dec thru March), about half of the days are warm enough to play disc golf, regular golf and soccer (and go for walks with my wife), my main outdoor activities. And for a winter like last year, 75% of the days were fine, where "fine" for me is above about 32F with no or light wind and over 40F with some wind. Plus, I get my favorite weather here at least some of the time, i.e., snow, which won't happen in FL, obviously.

Lou - I was there in 2018 when they played Wisconsin. They had NOWHERE near15,000 fans in the stadium. 5K at best and MOST, as we were walking around behind the 100's quite a bit during the game, were "KMart 'Canes."

As someone who grew up spending the month of August in Clearwater/Clearwater Beach, lived in Tampa and has spent PLENTY of weekends (typically long ones, lol...) in Ft Lauderdale and South Beach (as well as visits to many other parts of the state, including The Keys), I say this with nothing but love:

anyone thinking Florida is NOT livable is out of their freakin' minds. There are things things called "swimming pools," "oceans" and "gulfs." Use them to your advantage then enjoy ALLLLL the other things Florida has to offer, as well, including (and most importantly) an endless supply of beautiful, bountiful, "sights!"

From mid October through mid May the weather is usually quite tolerable in South Florida. That’s also about 6-7 great months to golf , swim , boating , tennis and just enjoy the outdoors. Here’s the reason I and thousands choose Florida . Though the past several winters have been above average in temperature and lower snowfall totals most outdoor sports and activities almost cease . if above say 45 . I’m good to exercise outdoors if above 40 degrees but that also is more by chance / choice. I understand it’s a personal choice of where one wants to live and maybe retire . To each his own but if you live in New Jersey … you can live anywhere .

Miami already has trouble getting their fans to see a home game at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Have to seriously question if Miami actually sells their allocation for the Bowl game. ( which I believe is 7500 tickets for each Team). Sales must brisk on our side of the Stadium as the Pinstripe Bowl just opened up 3 sections in the 300 level [331, 332,etc.} for Sale on Ticketmaster. No such thing happening on the Miami side of the Stadium.

I get super depressed in the winter. Cold, grey, damp. If i were retired here, I honestly would not know what to do with myself
My life lesson for that. Buy a farm, even just a small farm. There’s always something that needs to be done on a farm.

As someone with a wife from Miami who only moved up North to move in with her future husband to DC and then to NJ, there’s nothing like going down to South Florida in January and not have to break out a passport to get great weather and beautiful beaches. South FL from May to Sept is a living hell with no outdoor activities other than going into the pool or ocean for bathe temp waters. People go from their sub zero AC cars to freezing homes back to freezing cars to freezing offices to freezing malls. To go for a run or walk, people have to leave the house before the sun goes up or after the sun goes down not to lose half your body weight. If south Florida had mountains it would probably be the most populous state in the country. Love south FL but if you live more than 30 mins from the beach, what’s the point? Don’t even get me started on the middle of the state. Nothing but swamps.

As far as the U. Of Miami, the campus looks like a resort and when I first stepped foot on my first thought was “How the Hell can someone concentrate on studies with all the “beauty”? My fellow RU alum fraternity brother moved down for his MBA and lived 10 plus yrs in Coral Gables before saying “I need to get the hell out of here” and moved to TX. Always made fun of him roasting in Miami Gardens home game kickoffs at Noon in September before they updated the stadium with canopies with crowds less than 25k.

One thing I give Da U, is when they’re winning nationally, Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties totally get behind them even moreso than the Dolphins. That’s when they’re playing for national championships which has been some time.

Let's be honest here: who the hell ELSE would post a completely insane poll like this???
Over 100 people have voted and the thread is on its third page so clearly it’s a topic of interest. Once again, as usual, you are proven wrong.
Notre Dame drove that Pinstripe 2013 record crowd.
Correct. The fact that it was Notre Dame even drove some Rutgers fans who were on the fence to buy tickets and attend that game.
Miami already has trouble getting their fans to see a home game at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Rutgers had its own problems filling SHI Stadium this year, and our stadium is on campus. Hard Rock Stadium is a 30-minute drive from the main University of Miami campus on a good day. Either way we are in no position as RU fans to knock anyone else’s attendance right now.

Where are all these new residents in New Hampshire coming from?
I would assume the majority are already people who already live in the north who decided they like the mountain lifestyle, laid-back, fresh mountain air and tax Advantages of New Hampshire

Whenever I see a crowd picture posted for a game- I look to see what part of the game they are in and the score- I am not supporting that Miami draws well- but that picture is halftime and let's be honest- you are in Miami- halftime- are you just sitting in your seat in the 95 degree weather.

With that said- there may be 2-3k that are there to really support them. There will be another 1000 from this area that support them because they or family went to school there and maybe another 2k that heard Miami was in town to play and thought they meant Dolphins(all wearing number 13)

Miami probably gets 5-6 k … tops . If the game was a regular season one in September maybe they get a couple thousand more. They do have a ton of high ranked undergrads but less experienced. This will be a tough game for us unless Gavin shows improvement in his game.

Just look at the seating chart on Ticketmaster. Miami is flopping so far.

That is fair but here is another one. Not much difference. Louisville was in middle of a drive had a 2nd and 3 at the Miami 42. For additional perspective the game was in November and it was cloudy and 75 degrees at kick off. So heat was not a factor.

1 school has

- sold out Delta Club (ALL Rutgers)
- sold out The Audi Club (ALL Rutgers)
- sold numerous private suites (not sure about Miami)
- and is selling in the 300's already (NOT Miami)
Ignore the troll. When he has lost the argument he just makes things up.

it is such a weird take by a guy that is on his 3rd or more profile pumping up the PS bowl.
