Not my list and not in any order, but a potential list of guys the school will look at:

P.J. Fleck
Matt Rhule
Greg Roman
Greg Schiano
Ben McDaniels

Anyone else? We need someone to come in and restore the discipline here. I was behind Flood 100% from Day 1 until now; this is just getting ridiculous.

For all the good and bad game day stuff with Schiano .....I would love to see him recruit with a big ten logo on his polo along with a file of photos containing 30/40 former rutgers players recruited by Greg with their NFL jersey on.

If they were smart they would give whatever it takes to get Tom Herman away fro houston.

I think Tom's an amazing coach, but I don't think he would last long here (I think he would try to go the Midwest or Cali).

Any of those or Herman would be great, but I think, and some will disagree, that we need Schiano to restore order to this program. The worst thing to happen on his watch was a little 420. Not to mention the need to have an actual defense.

Get GS and spend $$$ on the OC position, we will land the top NJ kids and be a force in the B1G in no time.

Jim tressel is the guy , but he may be a bit too old at this point .
Would take schiano back . But I think ego's on both sides will prevent that from happening. He's got some unfinished business here .

PJ Fleck would be recruit the crap out of the area but idk how he is with the whole discipline thing. Schiano is a solid recruiting guy and we know where he stands with discipline. These two are probably 1 and 1a.

A couple of weeks ago I would have called this a dopey thread...

Now it's entirely relevant and the sad part is that any potential hire will
be vetted by a team that will screw it up...clean the whole house and then
deal with this...

wow The anti Flood crowd is really getting excited now. I would hate to be them. Flood will be coaching this team for at least 2 or 3 years more. To each his own....

Please no Schiano. He couldn't even win the Big East. That's like begging to the girlfriend that dumped you to take you back.
EXACTLY what my buddy always said - he couldn't win in the Big East with all of those NFL players.....plus, GS guarded the biggest secret out of RU - Rice as an all purpose back.

Not a big fan of the whole GS returns scenarios, but this I like.

Could be the shot in the arm both the program and Rutgers needs going into our 250th.

Yeah why would you want the guy who saved and made the program without any of the now daily nonsense and without the benefit of the B1G. Like to give him the chance!

Omg this white bus fella doesn't know college football. Tressel won a lot wherever he was. I guess national championships are not good enough for you ?

Rhule makes more money at Temple and I couldn't see him making a move to Rutgers. If he keeps the train moving down the tracks this season (and he has a good chance to do so) he will catch lightning in a bottle and go to a big time program (no flame). Please keep in mind that he makes more at Temple than you are paying Flood. Part of my big time program thing is based on the fact Rutgers won't pay him.

Roman is interesting. He was an original candidate for PSU after the scandal. Odd that he hasn't gotten a gig because he has looked. Maybe he interviews like Mike Zimmer.

Schiano would create some serious buzz for RU. I don't know if he is a good coach or not but he would definitely create a buzz.

Tressel is done coaching. He still has the show-cause provision and has a good role at YSU.

Richt will not be out at UGA and wouldn't come to Rutgers if he was IMO.

Little problem here....a coordinator has to be interested in working here in order for us to be able to offer $$$$$, and since GS gets WAAAAAY too involved with the on the field game planning by controlling the staff, AND, honestly, his book on game day strategies would be right next to Flood's on being a disciplinarian at your local book store, we would only get a third level coordinator or a real young buck (who will take Schiano's orders, thus, in effect, making GS the coordinator, and, like I said, as a program, organizer he's phenomenal, but he has to have is hand in everything.

If GS took the job and let the coordinators do their thing, he could be really good, however.......

And do you know why he isn't coaching anymore?? Rutgers doesn't need to go from bad to worse.

Doubtful that anyone would touch Tressel until the show cause is over. Regardless, he is an Ohio guy and I really can't see him leaving Ohio when he has a pretty good gig.

Yeah, I don't know much about Schiano but it sounds like he's a bit off. His NFL stuff and then the rumors about how he handled NFL scouts were definitely odd.

We payed Schiano $3 million a year. We pay Flood so little because he basically had no qualifications to be a head coach. The money thing isn't that much an issue. The issue is whether a coach would WANT to come here. Who wants to work for Julie Herman in a market where the local media jumps at every opportunity to carve up their own state university?

Do we go with a young guy like PJ Fleck? Or is he the type of guy who uses RU as a stepping stone to a more prestigious position?

Interesting question. If you get someone who can come in and win and get the upgrades and get the money, why leave? Doesn't Fleck have NJ ties?
