Possible conferences in the west

I root for the city school districts. I know they are up against a rock and a hard place. I've heard from folks that Thomasville City Schools are flirting with a forced takeover from NCDPI. It is hard to rebound from that.

I had two nine-school conferences in the post at the start of this thread. I can eliminate both of those by making the changes below and still have at least six school conferences:
4A/5A
Anson Anson
West Stanly Stanly
Central Academy** Union
North Davidson Davidson 5A
Oak Grove Davidson 5A
Montgomery Central Montgomery 5A

This is quite possibly the worst conglomeration of schools for a split conference. You have literally put a linear conference together here. Central Academy is over 90 miles from the northern schools on this list. Split conferences are for shortening distances.

$10 admission for games ... Nothing unusual. Happened with all Sandhills 3A/4A schools this season. Gotta pay the game officials.

Two elementary schools…Fair Grove and Pilot. But keep in mind that, without that 1983 local bill that froze the district lines, all of the students in the current city limits would have gone to Thomasville City Schools. I believe that has only happened one other time in North Carolina history but can’t remember where. In other cities with city systems, where annexations occurred, they became part of the city schools.

Lexington’s situation is somewhat unique due to an agreement between the city and the county school administrations.

The only way it will change is through merger and redistricting. Not in my lifetime.

Sorry to hijack the thread... But I know that there are some Randolph County homes with Thomasville addresses. Do the city limits reach over the county line or is that just for postal purposes?
I grew up in Davidson County with a Winston-Salem address just down the road from my Davidson County classmates with Clemmons addresses. Neither of those come into Davidson County. I know High Point has a two county reach.

Football gate comprises the majority of athletic budget in most every school. I've been to some schools as of late that honestly need a good away crowd to make ends meet. I don't hate the $10 idea. Gotta keep things in the black, especially if you have a weak booster club.

There is a part of the Thomasville city limits in Randolph County…near Colonial Country Club, and including Breckinridge. Of course, there are plenty of folks with Thomasville postal addresses that aren’t part of the city limits.

County and extra security games are $2 more to cover extra officers. Otherwise, cleveland county games are $8.

I know your stance on the district lines, and I don't disagree with you.
I can't get behind the entirety of the city limits being the district. I mean, EDHS, Brown middle school and at least one elementary school (perhaps two) have been annexed into Thomasville City.
It's a mess, and it probably needs to be redone. There are areas of Lexington's school district that are not in the city. They build a new neighborhood next to Davidson Charter. Those kids attend Lexington, but are not within the city limits.

When you live in North Carolina and your school district looks like a pizza with random toppings! Imagine little Timmy, peeking out the window at Davidson Charter, yelling, "Why can’t I go there?" while the district lines be like, "Nah, Timmy, that’s a no-go!" It’s a school lottery, but nobody bought a ticket!
