AAW, I tell you this because you are from here and know way too many people, way too well, much to my dismay, and would understand what I'm saying: In one of the earlier Waltons episodes, my mother commented that they (The Walton's) reminded her of her own family, growing up. I'll never forget that suddenly stunned look on my father's face after mom said it.

Ha! That time was still fresh in a lot of peoples minds when the show was on. It informed a phrase my daddy always used... 'Poor folks have got poor ways'...even today, living in the wealth of my circumstances, I have to fight the urge to cut corners, and buy cheap stuff... cuz that was the reality of yesteryear's budget!
