Paul is reporting it was a heat stroke. Still not good news, but better than it could have been.

Good to hear. The fact is, you get a bunch of 300 lb guys out in the summer heat in the south and you're going to get some heat strokes. The MHSAA has some responsibility here. It's insane for high school football to start playing games in the middle of August. Most states start at least 1 week later, and they really need to start 2 weeks later.

Prayers going up for him. Doesn't matter what team you're a fan of when something like that happens

3. Remember that story about Jesus saying if you pray, pray in silence, for those who flaunt prayer have already received their reward? If you feel the need to beseech the posters here for their prayers, feel free. However, anyone who responds with "You have my prayers" or such will be deemed a Pharisee and cast from the temple.

No your not gonna get some heat strokes. Or shouldn't. Heat stroke is the third level of heat injuries. Heat cramps and heat exhaustion are the first and second level. If a kid practicing football is overcome with heat stroke, then every adult involved in that practice and football program should be fired. Period. I've been in 110 degree weather in Iraq with body armor on, on a tank range at Camp Shelby in August with record high temps inside of a armored vehicle with temps in excess of 120, and multiple other high temp/high physical activity situations and not one of the soldiers under me had a heat stroke. Yeah we had some heat injuries, had to give a few IV's, even flew a couple out on a MEDEVAC, but not one heat stroke. You treat it before it gets to that level.

Now, saying all that. I'm sure Mix had heat exhaustion and was properly treated at the hospital, he will always be more susceptible to heat injury and should be watched more closely. Just another example of message board madness and people not knowing what they are talking about.
