I hope West Montgomery... But they have a tough road to get there! Murphy will win 1A
Hate to say it but I will be glad to see WRH & JK move up in 2017
1AA East Surry but watch out for Swain to make a run. They may surprise Rhonda in the second round. East Surry will have to beat West Montgomery to get there, and I think they will.
1A Plymouth. No title for SMC this year??? We will see.

WRH vs. WM.... WRH will win. JK and WRH will be a factor in 2AA. Just a shame that with that much difference in numbers it takes so many years to figure out something was amiss in placing them in 1A for whatever reason it was. But, nothing can be done or said.
WM has to get by the teams in front of them and according to one of our so called "fans" on this site WM may bow out Friday night. Would love to see you make some of your comments about the team, coaching and strategy sometimes before 2 or 3 a.m. when you must be deep in your bottle.

Swain may make a run and beat East Wilkes in the second round. They will not sneak up on the Cards and it is not Rhonda, it is Ronda. Swain and Starmount deserve the utmost respect.

Yea S Stanly baseball had to play Whiteville last year for the championship and Whiteville has had 2A numbers the whole time in 1A. Kinda stinks and they get one more year like JK.

Reminds me of an ornery woman. Rhonda. Autocorrect got me. Bet no one outside the area even knows East Wilkes is RONDA!!! Most probably just know it as that school next to Elkin.
East Carteret Mariners to win it all. Our two bumps in the road were James Kenan, who we had at halftime and shot ourselves in the foot with penalties and a late turnover on the 35 yard line while driving to score , and playoff bound 2A Croatan , in the rain, with the unsuccessful but courageous two point conversion to win with ten seconds to go in the game. We've got the heart , the coaching and the athletes to add this years football trophy to last years basketball trophy in our ever growing trophy case .
No pun intended but I'm sure most EW fans wouldn't like to be referred to as "that school next to Elkin". Elkin and EW has a bitter rivalry, I think more on the EW side than the Elkin side than in years past. But for EW its still the same as it always has been.
East Surry will come out of the west, they are going to be very strong for the next 4 to 5 years, talent in the program is very deep right now, jv was undefeated , middle school undefeated. Lot of talent in pilot mtn, same goes for Mt Airy , lot of young talent in the program right now , and to be quiet honest we all need to be watching Winston Salem Prep as they will be a major player in a year or two, look for them to do what they have done in basketball to be done in football
Pirate I hope you are correct but I just don't think so.
What coach King has done in one year is amazing. The school is fired up for football and it's not been that way since Keifer(sp).
East can score there's not much doubt about that. The question is can they get enough stops when east plays the better teams. If they can get some stops and get the D off the field east can beat anybody.
Win or lose it's been fun to watch Mariner football this year.
Think positive . The idea is to SCORE more than the opponent. I know we can do that.

Rville should be the favorite but the winner of the Murphy/Rosman game will be a very tough game for Rville. Could go either way. I don't think Rosman will beat Plymouth. it will have to be RVille or Murphy to keep the title in the West.

NewBig talk by the Tarboro fan. They been in 1A several years and not even a title game, much less a title.
I agree, I certainly don't think we re 14 pts better than everyone in 1a but did want to respond to this comment. Seen a few people make the comment that we haven't been in the title game the last two years. Anyone who has seen us the past few years knows the last few years we have not been close to the teams from 08-12. That doesn't have anything to do with 1a. To be honest if we were in 2ain 13 and 14 there is no way we could have even made it to the 3rd round. It's just so funny to me that I see comments about how now that we re in 1a we can't get past the 3rd. We went to FIVE straight title games. Eventually you're going to have a dip in talent and we have the past few years. Last years was one of the worst tarboro teams in many years and still only lost to jk by one score and could have won the game. I said all that to say this, yea, we haven't made the title game the past two years, but I promise it has had a lot more to do with what we haven't had vs years past than who we've faced since coming down to 1a.
