I created a thread for this verbal (how I think all PSU verbals should be handled). But I also think this thread should be aware of/discuss, any PSU verbal or recruiting action, so I'm also putting it in here.

2026 from Altoona. Flipped from Buffalo.

S5, S3. Last year was at 127 for much of the season, 121 for the postseason.

Probably depth, but has a few good wins (Rothermel, McGinty, Nelson) and generally has been competitive with the top guys.

Money doesn't talk, it screams bloody murder.

I'm a CPA and that's my opinion..
It's funny. The original Bob Dylan lyric was "While money doesn't talk, it swears" from It's All Right, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding). Then it got paraphrased in "The King of Comedy" to "Money talks, but it only talks a little. It screams bloody murder".

They actually won 220,000 dollars as they secured 20k in takedown bonuses. I have no idea how they distribute the money and if coaches get a part.

Peterson beat Mccrone 11-4 last year. Volk beat Mccrone. Once again he is 2-17 against top 20 kids. The staff has already made the decesion it is not a tough one. They wrestled Bouzakis against the better wrestlers. Mccrone will get to wrestle in the meaningless duals sure. They don't need him cutting the weight every single week. If somehow hes not in the lineup this year Iowa will pay he a million bucks at this point and be should take it. Bouzakis has looked awesome.

Davino i think is a title contender. Only one i favor over him is Blaze. Crookham hasnt been healthy for a year and a half. Last person to take Davino down was Vega on a last second takedown to win the match in folkstyle years ago. He avenged that and look at how Vega did against Hardy. Davino is gonna be special

Stiles had a bounce back weekend but didnt beat anyone worth while.

Cannon looked very good but Taylor looked bad also. I think he solidified himself into the top 5. Always looking to score and bonus point machine

Paddy is much improved. I think he is a legit threat to be an all american this year.

Carson would be the number two guy if he beats Kennedy. One of my only disappointments this weekend. Still should be a high all american. He is right there with everyone other than Haines

Fishback lost to Allred 4-0 last year and looks much improved. He took it to Mcennelly and Ferrari. Probably number 5 behind mcenelly, welsh, sinclair, amd ferrari. Welsh and Fishback match is going to be a good one. This is the deepest weight in college.

197 looks to be the weight im most worried about. I think Waters could start right now. Chance marsteller claims waters would be an NCAA finalist right now. Im not sure about that but he could definately be the buckeyes starter now. Geog gets hurt too often

285 Feldman big win over Ferrari. Heavyweight is wide open this year. Feldman can finish anywhere from 1-6 probably.

Wrestlestat currently has buckeyes favored over Penn state to win the tournament lol with 139 points. While we know we aren't touching Penn State it is fun to see. Stay healthy and the buckeyes can be number 2 at the end of the year.

On a side note i hope Burnett watched that Nebraska ohio state dual as i don't think hes going to Penn state to sit on the bench more than likely. This should help the buckeyes a lot on the recruiting trail.

Any folks out there with far more knowledge about recruiting than I, care to offer their thoughts on the likelihood that Burnett chooses the Nittany Lions? 🦁

Burnett is currently a junior in high school and won't get to college for another 2 years. In 2 or 3 years, PSU doesn't have a log jam in the 133 to 149 weight range, which I'm guessing is Burnett's projected range. There will be Blaze (133 or 141), maybe one year of Ono, and less heralded guys like Naseo, Cunningham, Perry, and Herring). The opportunity will be there.

Another thing to note is that Blaze and Burnett were high school teammates, and Blaze didn't announce his college choice until fall of his senior late, way later than most guys. Gotta wonder if Burnett will do something similar.

i know it’s a long way to 2027 but not super happy about psu reloading the way they are
As an aside buckaroos, I will continue to use folksy westernisms when discussing our Cowboy cousins as long as they continue to imagine themselves as successors to the mantle of Zane Grey, Larry Mahan, Jim Shoulders and the like, dress their wrestlers up in Deadwood-style accoutrements (so to speak), and have a roster in which half their wrastlers are named after barnyard animals, other various beasts o’burden, country sounding adjectives (e.g. Rowdy) or verbs (e.g. Chase).

If ye don’t like it, you can mosey right past the post

At OKST Duals vs Iowa, it was more like "Save a horse, ride a Cowboy."

Great win for Hoare! That being said, I like Brown’s length as a prospect more than Hoare’s build.
It was. Hoare got in awfully easy on some of those attacks. Wondering how rusty Brown was -- he skipped the offseason to recover from a knee injury. This was his 2nd match of the year, and the first guy wasn't even a warmup act.

Regardless, if they both remain at 215, they'll likely meet again at West Regionals and probably states. By then they'll both be tested -- Hoare will go to Ironman; Brown will go to Escape the Rock and Trojan Wars. Both will face state finalist Roscosky in duals.

It’s worth noting that Kendahl didn’t do a full offseason either. He wrestled at Fargo and some duals events here and there but no national duals, etc. I think he was a little dinged up after the season last year.

I know he is only a sophomore, but it looks like two-time U17 World Champion Sammy Sanchez has bumped up to 120 this year after winning a California State title at 113 last year. Sanchez won this year's U17 title at 51kg (112.2 lb.) Also at 120 this year is Senior Rocklin Zinkin , who is a two-time returning California State champion, winning the title at 120 last season. Landon Sidun majored Zinkin at WNO two months ago. Flo's ratings have it: 1. Sidun (PSU) 2. Zinkin (OSU) 3. Munaretto (tOSU) and 4. Sanchez. Flo's P4P ratings have Sidun at #10, Sanchez at #11, Zinkin at #19 and Munaretto at #20. Zinkin and Sanchez should see each other a few times this season, and hopefully we will also get to see some additional matches among the four of them. Edit: It should also be noted that Sanchez is the only wrestler in Flo's top 20 P4P who is not a junior or senior; there are 15 seniors and four juniors. For those better in grammar than I (me? myself?), I took a chance and threw in the semicolon after "senior" because I like to use semicolons even though I never know if I am being grammatically correct or not! Since it is a blustery and cloudy day here outside of San Diego this would be the perfect time to expand my knowledge in this area : )

Zinklin is wrestling 126 at the Brecksville Holiday Tournament. Could see Grey Burnett in finals (both are in semis). Buchanan dominating with 11 in semifinals. CalGrappler still ranks Zinklin at 120 in their CA State Rankings so that may be where Zinklin will be for other matches.

Zinkin won 2-1 TB in his semi and beat Burnett 2-1 UTB in the Final. That was obviously a good win over Burnett, but no TDs in 14 minutes doesn't bode well for any matches he may have with Sanchez.
