The QB who went to Scotland for the football season is back at Westover to graduate this spring with his friends. Met him last week. Nice young man with a bright future as a RB at Lenior Rhyne. Guess the economy isn't so great for jobs and housing in Scotland county after all. Wonder where their QB will come from this year?

Anywhere one that wants to compete at a high level and not be stuck on some sub par 500 team. As long as the rules allow bring them in. Folks always talking about what the players do. Old a## Tubby Smith up there dogging grad transfers and his a## makes millions. Go kick rocks! I would leave to if I were a kid for a chance to increase my opportunities as long as the rules permit. Next - Personally I like the kid at 71st lol and I have my selfish reasons! The coach at Harding is leaving and you know what if it is a better opportunity for him then so be it but don't hate the kids or the schools that get these transfers.

Davis at 71st is the top qb coming back. Can't see him leaving now. Heard McQueen has an interest in playing with Davis at 71st. Now wouldn't that be something.

If that is best for him then so be it. Not my decision or yours! Love McQueen to death but the beat rolls on in SC - too many players down there to close up shop over one player. I think that was proven in spades this year with the greatest hs running back in NC history IMO having to shut it down!

Sure it will be next man up in SC. They have a lot of wins with only 1 trophy. Maybe teaming with Davis or the youngster at Richmond which I head was a possibility may get him a ring.

Ring or multiple scholarship offers from major schools - bet he would take the offers. Big picture - that ring will not change his future but multiple scholarship offers will. That has possible life time implications! 50 plus kids on one team win a championship on avg - how many get to continue to play in college and get an education that is paid for? Not many bro - big picture.

Easy? Kid got a full ride sounds like a smart business decision to me and played against some of the best teams this state has to offer in a great environment. He doesn't owe anything to westover or scotland high school. He is looking out for himself. Folks always talk about folks should take control of their lives and this is what he and his family did. Don't blame the kid blame the rules.

Pretty sure he was getting recruited at Westover dude. Its hard to ignore or avoid talent. It is not like they sucked over at Westover, they had some talent. Im sure he could've gotten the same offers at WO, he was already on the recruiting radar.

The saltiness in your words are compounded by the lack of facts in your argument. Jade is stating facts the kid did it the right way by all accounts the family got a SC address and moved the students into a situation that paid for itself. He got better coaching in SC, played with better players at SC, and played on a different level at SC. No disrespect to Westover but facts are facts

Might have been but the bottom line its his choice and life so what is the problem. If he was your kid you would do what is best for him and if going to SC was best for him why does that make it easy. His head coach left after his junior year and no one said a word the kid leaves and he is taking the easy route, sc is cheating and all the other stuff that has been said. We all should be happy the young man is continuing his education and chasing his dream!

Georgia has been doing this for years . Grayson had five, Power 5 FBS players transfer in, and out to their previous school. They won the State Championship and lost one game to IMG 2016. Kids are recruiting kids. Winning programs don't have a problem losing players. Parents are understanding what it takes, and they're taking action.

No saltiness at all, sorry for your confusion. Just think transferring between schools is a cop out IMO. Stick it out with the guys you've been grinding with.

Well, midway through the seasons ending, some Senior turf ball from Laurinburg mentioned Laurinburg as #1 on Jobstreet.com. For that reason is why athletes and parents were moving into Scotland County - is what the turf ball said. What was the name of the turf ball?

I've never been to a Westover football practice so I'm not qualified to comment on who or who does not attend their practices. Having attended a few Scotland practices I have seen the sidelines of the practice field littered with college coaches. If I had a son and him transferring to Richmond would increase his chances of recieving a college scholarship just call me go_ raiders!

Good Lawd my baby Jesus!!!!!!
Whats ahatning in the Powerhouse? One day Go_Scots said parents wus ah-transfering cause of jobs. Now everyone is leaving Camp Happy Hopes?
Rufus did some sort of statistics and he wus ah-telling me that the share of migrating football athletes (16 to 19) in the Laurinburg arena, working or looking for work during the off football season has been declining for more than a a few months now, long before the the season ended. And check this out Pa, get this - in September 2017, nearly two-thirds of migrating athletes flowing into what was know as the Job Kingdom of the state were in the labor force.

Wus we gona do bout a new QB?

Well, well look at what we have here Mr. Fun , we were telling the truth about the recruiting, the young man went back home to his mama and daddy. After all the recruiting, and the best team I have seen in a long time at Scotland County, and they still have 1 trophy. Oh yea I have also heard that Scotland County has been in Cumberland county fishing for another QB look out 71st coach Bailey is trying to get your QB or he was trying. Wake up NCHAA.

The Raider fans' comments here are hilarious. We learned to do this from you guys. Have you all forgotten about the qb from Cary that transferred and lived with a Raider coach during football season and then transferred back to Cary to play baseball?

Unless any of you guys have proof that the kid didn't take up residency in SC during the fall of 2017 go kick rocks. What some of you are saying is that Bailey is suppose to tell a kid and his family "no you don't need to move to SC and enroll your kid in a school that currently has a winning program"? Bailey himself told his parents that he would have to compete for any position if he wanted to get on the field.

Better start beating folks that matter. Everyone knows and I mean everyone knows this year was about one thing and one thing only as it relates to the finals. Nothing against Harding they earned but it its a different story if the train is on the tracks. But all is good. We will be back making noise again this year. Take it to the bank brother. Along time before we will be your doormat again. You better start making some hay with the qb and receivers you have!

Seems like the 71st QB is the one to watch. SC has been after him for the since he was a 9th grader. Don't think they are going to get him. Quietly goes about his business on the field. Seems to get overlooked. What people don't know is he was a legendary safety before switching to QB. Showing some loyalty to his program.

It is sad and appalling this conversation is going on in a high school athletics forum but it is the way of the world. And we wonder why our society and the NCAA are riddled with problems. ME, ME, ME thats all our kids hear and see. We are talking about where does the Harding kid go and who will be the next QB at Scotland like this is the high school free agency period. But one comment I can and do agree with is stop blaming the kid. The blame falls squarely on us "adults". Can't wait to see what shoe company Crouch gets endorsed by or the agent who represents the next recruited player is. I mean absolutely polluting high school sports, insane.

The argument of moving to better your chances of being recruited holds absolutely no truth in it. ALABAMA signed kids from the following:
School record
Fort Mill 4-8
Southwind 8-4
Salmen 9-3
Westminster
Christian 6-5
Olympus 4-6

If you are what they are looking for, talented enough or good enough they will find you. They found players in Cheshire, Ct. to the metropolis of Seffner, Fl. Again if you are what they need, talented enough or good enough they will find you.

Probably one of the biggest myths in recruiting high school football. If you're good they will find you? This is simply not true for most student-athletes outside of the top 100. Kids have been moving to better programs for over 30 years. Through social media it's getting noticed more. This is not new in High School Football.

Jaylen Samuels Mallard Creek had 59 Td's his senior season. Goes on to NC.State and events a new position. The Army Swiss Knife. Zero Stars until State comes in, the last minute and offers hims. They give him 3 stars. He just finished participating in the NFL combine. Nobody knew about him until very late into his senior year. It's a huge difference playing for a program that will give you 4 to 5 extra games playing in the playoffs versus Zero or One.

NCAA made $1.1 billion in 2017 and the student athletes that made that possible don’t get a dime. If you the player and your parents believe that moving to a better program will give you better opportunities of getting noticed for scholarships opportunities and you have the resources. GO TO SCOTLAND COUNTY AND PLAY QB! :)

lets not get carried away....only a handful of mid to major recruits from SC and 1 trophy. They are on a good run the last few years but lacking the icing on the cake.

Scotlands is going to give you a deep run into the playoffs every year. Which is better than 95% of the teams in NC. Having the best rb's in the Nation is going to give you much more college traffic. It's a no brainier if they're in need of a position that you can go in, and start. Make the move. You will find that winning programs have no problem with other winning programs getting a 2 or 3 new studs every year. It's always the sub par or losing programs that complain. WIN AND THEY WILL COME!

Hough will have over 13 FBS players on their roster this season that mysteriously showed up, that the majority of them did not attend the program their 9th & 10th grade year. Only 1. Nobody cares in the conference. Play Ball! They have been doing this the last 4 years.

North Dakota State who has won 6 titles signed an athlete who played at Big Foot High School (not making this up i promise) in Walworth, Wisconsin. His team went 3-6 for the season, they are ranked 310 in the state and 11,368 in the nation. Pretty sure he was not in the top 100. Now i can not argue with you about extra games = extra exposure but your social media comment kind of supports my myth. Todays social media makes it even easier to find kids. I use this kid and this program as an example because they are a winning program, in a remote place that has a recruiting budget of $146k. As in life there are always exceptions to every rule but I will stand behind the myth that they will find you if they need you and you are good enough.

People have been pushed the idea that they have to move for better exposure and better chances. There are a lot more kids signing scholarships from Podunk, Mn and Backwater, Al. than there are from IMG and Mater de every year. Who pushes this idea? It is a little strange to me that IMG, the academies and others have tuition fees to attend high school which is offered for free. I imagine IMG would not be open very long if they didn't promise something. How long do you think they would be open if no top prospects decided to go there?

So then lets get all the kids agents, endorsements and open up the recruiting. We could even do it like nascar, this player and his family are sponsored by Fred's Chicken Shack.
