Question about the Ole Miss defense

All I remember pre-season was that they were small upfront so teams would just pound the ball down their throats. But I can't remember watching anybody really attempt to do that in the little bit of the other games I saw them play.

So did nobody try it or did they actually just do a good job of defending the run?

Part of my was hoping that we'd come out in 2 tights ends and just ram 7 and 34 down their throat with some Dak mixed in, but that clearly didn't happen. Honestly I'm not sure what our offensive game plan was again.

I think the reason why they lost a lot of games in the 4th quarter is because teams did pound away at them. Sure, they are quick and play well early, but usually you tire down after a while. We didn't do that, should have when we got ahead, but didn't

The plan was to obviously open up the run with the passing game. The passing game started well but it obvious MSU doesn't have a line than can run block worth a ****. Our OL was bigger, but got knocked back all night. We had negative rushing in the 2nd half against an undersized line

But we also didn't do much running out of a run formation - putting a FB back there with Nick and Josh and just trying to hammer the ball.

Doing that would have at least probably put us in 3rd and 5's which were much more manageable than the 3rd and 9's we were in all night. And while the draw to perkins is something we've been asking for - you can't only run it on 3rd downs.
