HSFB man just sitting under d's Palm trees and relaxing watching d Tide going out from D Backyard, Now d question. I really do like Mallard Creek Football cause it's flow like me FAST and WIDE. If D's great ball coach Tommy Knotts would been D coach since the school open in 2007until now how many State Titles would they have now with all of the talent that has came thru that school.

They've already been World beaters.

2007: 1-10
2008: 10-1 * forfeit season (Kid re classed from Va)
2009: 11-2
2010: 13-1
2011: 13-1
2012: 12-2
2013: 16-0
2014: 15-1
2015: 15-2
2016: 9-3
2017: 14-1

Coach Palmieri was a very young Coach when he arrived.. Knotts is also almost 20 years older, so of course he possibly would have won 1 or 2 more games, much more experience. MC couldn't get over the hump against Butler, and towards the end, neither could Knotts. I don't believe he beats Butler or MC had he stuck around after 2009. Coach P also won 3 State Championships with 3 different OC's. He can flat out coach and he develops talent. He spends a lot of time with his JV program. JV has only lost 1 game in 4 years. Bar none one of the best strength and conditioning programs in High School Football.

Tom Knotts is a legend. Deserves every accolade he has gotten and its not a coincidence that the MC coaching staff is littered with his former players. However, Mr. Knotts isn't returning to Charlotte to play a beaten down disastrous program like Indy this time around. He will have to earn it. Athlete for athlete this may be the best Creek team Palmieri has had.

Mallard's success is impressive. While loaded with talent that ends up playing at the next level, you still have to win when it countsand they do.

Middle Creek has had the best 6 year run in the school's short history and their 69-15 pales in comparison to Mallard's 71-9 over the same period when you also look at championships Mallard has compared to Middle Creek's zero.

Middle Creek will be way down this season but still looking forward to football starting. Also look forward to arguing some of you knuckleheads.

I'll get home to Robbinsville and Big Oak for at least one game as well.

He’s coaching At Dutch Fork in South Carolina. Has won 3 titles down there including the past 2

Understanding what Knotts has done at Dutch Fork is far more impressive than anything he did in Charlotte. DF was a PERENNIAL loser until he walked in. Knotts inherited a team that had only won (38) games from 2000-2009 and won (10) games in his first year and led them to the playoffs. He's led them to a 92-21 record since arriving winning (3) State Championships and losing in (2) others playing in (5) of the last (6) title games.

2010: 10-3 (First Year)
2011: 10-3
2012: 11-4 (Lost in Finals)
2013: 12-3 (Champs)
2014: 12-3 (Lost in Finals)
2015: 9-4
2016: 15-0 (Champs)
2017: 13-1 (Champs)

Its the equivalent of what Griener did at Harding for one year but Knotts has done that for 8. He is quoted as saying this group may be his best yet.

I talked to Randy two nights ago. Defensive front 7 are strong and like to hit. Secondary ok so defense has a chance to keep them in some games. O line huge question mark. Young QB who has lots of skill but needs game experience. No answer yet at RB. Tough early schedule.

Had a football pundit tell me Griener was “better” than Knotts. My reply was he may be but let’s revisit it in twenty years. The grind year after year is tough. People in SC talked big smack about Knotts when he went to DF. Laughed that he was going to find out what “big boy” football was. Guess they were right he has lost 19 games to SC schools in eight seasons.

I agree 100% and have said the exact same thing. It takes zero away from the Harding story which was an incredible story. Big difference between having a great season and having sustained sucess for 8-10 years. Great players graduate, coaches move on.....different skill set required. Its not just X's and Os.

By the way they said the same thing about Palmieri when Marquis graduate. Lots of people predicted a huge drop off.

What happens when you have to develop players, which is something Knotts and Palmieri do very well. Putting in your systems, expectations and your Football culture is imperative. Your JV squad is the most important piece of building a program. I don't know if Griener knew he was leaving the program last year. He fielded the worst JV squad i have ever seen ever last year. I don't believe they win a game if they were playing a middle school schedule. You might get a Quavaris Crouch once in 2 decades. Time will tell.
