Question, would you be content with a 7-5 record next year?....

Yes, of course. But I do feel we have the potential to do better.

I've outlined this countless times. Senior QB and RB, with a veteran OL and solid WR, with some JUCO help. Improve the defense just a little and we're looking at a really good team. And I have it on good account that 2013 is the year that Mullen has said many things will come together.

And Knile Davis. And a bunch of Srs. So the answer is no. Plus they are trying to be something that they can never be, unless Beliema is a miracle worker on the recruiting trail. If they want to be Wisconsin in the SEC (much like MSU of the 90s), I hope they are happy with 8-4.

Year Five of Mullen . . . and most are happy with 7-5 or 6-6????

How expectations have fallen. Wow.
In 2007 with Croom we beat two teams in the top 25 (Bama and Auburn)
In 2008 after unexpectedly losing 6 top underclassmen on the team (think about next year losing our six best players (to suspension or injury) that are returning and ask how good we would be) - we won two SEC games (vandy and Arkansas), and lost two others by 1 point each (Auburn and Kentucky). Lost by 10 to LSU.

2013 - most people now are happy with the fact that: Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma State are a toss up.
Probable losses: Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, USC.
Wins: Kentucky, Bowling Green, Alcorn St. Troy

in 2013, here is how these teams will likely compare to their 2008 versions:
Alabama - same
LSU - same
Texas A&M - NA
Arkansas - worse in 2013
Ole Miss - worse in 2013
USC - NA
Kentucky - much worse in 2013
Oklahoma State - NA, but much worse than GT in 2008
Troy - worse than LA Tech in 2008

I don't get the lowering of expectations around here. Arkansas in its current state, USC with no quarterback, and Ole Miss are now tossups or worse? Sorry, if we are not better than that, we have not improved since 2008.
We have the best QB in MSU history now. We should be able to do better. We will still have key Croom recruits like Jackson, Smith, and Russell, but now it is time to see what the boys Mullen has recruited can do. If we don't do better than that next year, he hasn't done well at all.

Going off the last two seasons, we should assume we will lose to any team that is better than mediocre. Given that, 6-6 is probably our ceiling. So I guess I'd have to be content with 7-5 because it would mean we'd have actually beat someone decent.

Wins: Other 3 OOC & Kentucky = 4
Losses: Ok. St., LSU, Bama, A&M, & USCe = 5
Toss-Ups: Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss = 3

7-5 would mean winning every toss-up. My guess is we win 1 of those. 5-7 it is. If we win 2, we can pop champagne in B'ham!

You've watched that ESPN documentary too many times. Croom had one fluke winning season, 2008 was just a return to the norm. Sure we lost by 1 point to Auburn in the worst game ever. I still get pissed about that game, I can't believe you even brought it up.

We haven't beaten LSU in this millennium. 13 straight defeats. We've beaten Bama 3 times in that span. I think you can safely put them in the definite loss category.

You are an dubmass. First of all, we lost 8 games in 08 and 7 in 09. So we have greatly improved. Not to mention, you throw that little "NA" out there and don't even include two TOP 10 teams in A&M and USC because we didn't play em in 08. Think it would help us not to have those two on our schedule? And how in the hell can you say OK State is worse than GTech in 08? We haven't even made it to next season yet. And you say Troy is worse than La Tech in 08? Based on what? The SunBelt is much stronger now than it has ever been...see ULM, La Tech, Troy, ULL, etc.

Terrible argument.

ETA: Arkansas was 5-7 and Auburn was 5-7 in 08...much worse now??
LSU was 8-5 in 08....same as now??
What exactly were you looking at when forming this diatribe? Not facts obviously.
By the way, Kentucky was a little better as you say...but what win got them their 6th that year so they could make a bowl game? Yep, beating Ol Sly Crxxm
