Wow talk about unnessecary negativity. Rashan Gary is the number 1 recruit in the country and constantly being talked about as "in the mix" when recruiters talk about his recruitment. That alone is worth the money we "pay" for him to attend our games. Rutgers is associated with the #1 recruit in the country! That is called positive press. Learn the game guys... it is a positive for both parties involved.

At this point I'm viewing him having no interest in PSU as a victory.

Why would you talk crap about this it is great. I don't care let RU be the in thing to do every weekend for all the big recruits even if there is little of no chance for them to commit to us. Eventually it will click for one of these kids.

The chances are pretty good he's heading south but you still recruit the hell out of him. It doesn't hurt anyone.

Some folks need to stop taking all this recruiting stuff so personally. It's just business,

Rutgers is not in the mix as much as you want to believe.

And I don't consider myself to be that negative.

What a complete hot-air posting.

This is the type of posting that I really hope everyone can see it for what it really is..... a posting of ZERO value. It is incredible how many people there are in this country who just say things while having no real insight lol.

First of all, you have no idea how "in the mix" I think Rutgers is with Rashan, so for you so say that he is not in the mix as much as I think is just a empty statement.

Second of all, you have no idea how in the mix Rashan considers Rutgers so for you to say that Rutgers is not as in the mix as I think he is ...is yet another empty statement.

So Janowski nothing personal against you, I just happen to have your example in front of me. But seriously people, lets start thinking about what we post rather than just complete hot air. It makes the forum much more cluttered than necessary.

Hot air posting? Not quite.

I would love for Gary to come here, it would obviously be a game changer for Rutgers. But your statement that he's been constantly "in the mix" is not accurate. The past 6 months or so It's been said that he's headed to a big time program, and probably down South.

I just don't want people to get their hopes up, because we've seen this song and dance so many times. It is good that's he'll be in attendance with a bunch of his teammates who are top recruits however.

When I first saw the title of this thread I thought that there was a rash on Gary's face. Then I thought shouldn't that be labeled as an OT thread. And they I finished taking a dump.

Just in case you're interested.

I would say that in at least 80% of the Rashan Gary articles that I read about his recruitment.... I see Rutgers name mentioned in it. Therefore it is definitely accurate to say Rutgers is constantly in the mix.

You seem to be talking about where he will actually end up. That is totally different than just talking about who is in the mix.

Rutgers has been in the mix of most of the top 10 ranked NJ recruits in the past few years. How many of them committed to Rutgers?

Not the point of this thread, but yes we are aware that just being in the mix does not mean a recruit will commit to us.

The #1 recruit in the entire country that literally EVERY school in the nation would die for is choosing to attend OUR famous BLACKOUT game against the #4 team in the country. This is the type of stuff that Rutgers fans have been DYING for and now that we finally have it.... it seems like some people cannot see how incredible this is.

I can't tell if we just have some people on this board who are so negative that they literally cannot see the positive in anything or if we just have people who have allowed their expectation to become SO bloated now that we are in the BIG10 that they are not happy with having the #1 recruit visiting us and would only be happy if he actually COMMITS to us. While obviously we would all LOVE this and it would go down in Rutgers history forever, but at the same time we have to remember that it is a MAJOR win just to have him at our BLACKOUT game and to be showing so much interest in our school.....it shows other recruits that there is obviously something special about Rutgers that he likes or else he would've just visited once and never again.

It's nice that he's coming but shouldn't that be the way that it should be be? He lives literally less than an hour away from Rutgers. RU should constantly get visits from the top NJ players. I would say that recently they have been getting a lot of high profile visits though which is great. They just haven't turned into many big time NJ commits. It's normal for a fan base that sees this constantly to be skeptical.

Being skeptical is one thing, but, when people say things they have no clue about it makes them look foolish.....like, "Rutgers is not in the mix". He'll now post....whatever brah

This is true that players who live close by should at least be visiting one time, BUT when they are making multiple visits that is a totally different story. These kids usually have incredibly tight schedules and it is not always easy to find a ride, SO to make multiple trips to Rutgers speaks volumes.

Think about it, like an above poster stated, Gary has probably visited Rutgers 20 times since 8th grade. That means he literally knows all of the ins and out of the program. So the fact that he is set to visit yet AGAIN tonight means he truly enjoys the time he spends at Rutgers and the people he gets to interact with and of course the insanely awesome BLACKOUT atmosphere. So THAT is what makes it such a positive.

Also, remember that back in the day the Top 5 NJ recruits wouldn't even want to visit RU once despite their close proximity. Now not only do they ALL visit, but they usually visit multiple times.

He lives in Scotch Plains- 2 towns away from Piscataway. Nothing to see here.

Very well put. Being skeptical is a good thing.....our country actually needs more healthy skepticism because it keeps people and entities honest and it leads to corruption and waste being exposed.

But speaking negatively about situations that you have no insight about is a totally different animal. That is just a waste of everyone's time and our country definitely needs less of this type of hot air because it clutters up our world so people or entities with positive and insightful messages become harder to find.

(Sorry, I know I got a little philosophical there, but this forum is a perfect microcosm of this negative phenomenon. For example, a reader only has so much time to spend reading this forum so every time somebody posts a hot-air post it takes away time from that reader being able to find and read an actual insightful post.)

If he were Only interested in SEC schools, he would stay home and watch Alabama, LSU or Auburn on TV.

Maybe him and his Mom are quietly doing their homework and realize the SEC schools trying to stress academics is a big joke.....maybe Mom wants to see games after taking the short drive from Scotch Plains.....maybe he thinks about those weekend trips home for a home meal or doing his laundry. Maybe his Mom saw the Carroo situation and told his son..."I want you close to home".

I lot of unknown factors could be in play......NO ONE Knows.

Most if not all the top ten NJ football recruits over the past four years have probably attended one or more Rutgers games. Yet ZERO have committed to the program. Attending a game does not mean very much, unfortunately.

Yeah, but I would also conclude Rutgers is not in the mix. Being "in the mix" means he is considering Rutgers and I don't think so either. I don't understand the indignation for a poster who is stating the most likely outcome.
