When you have to fire satirists who have made jokes about the President in order to get a merger approved by the government - that’s what real government censorship of the media looks like.

it's pretty disgusting but what isn't disgusting about this new political climate? so many norms have been obliterated and open corruption is just accepted now by the cultists. straight up Russia/NK behavior.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the show losing the network $40 million per year. Some of you are such useful idiots it's freightening.

@fatpiggy and @MTTiger19 are both so laughably brain dead Lolol. Reading this thread makes me jealous of their ability to live in an alternate reality

Being brain dead and out of touch with reality is thinking this is some grand right-wing conspiracy instead of what it really is... basic capitalism. You’re openly bashing your employer while your show is over $40 million in the red. Folks like you are called, "useful idiots" for a reason.

The show sucked.
That’s your opinion, which while not a fact is still typically wrong. In the case it’s both your opinion and incorrect. Just because you keep hammering it in posts (like the other day when you kept repeatedly posting that Kamala is the dumbest politician in history, which is just laugh out loud wrong) doesn’t make it true.

I have never seen someone who is so disconnected from fact and reality as you. You are the spitting image of “every MAGA accusation is a confession”.

Not my fault cbs can’t budget correctly. The show had tons of viewers. They obviously let the budget balloon too much.

Isn’t it 8 months before he’s available and like 4 days after it was announced?

Do personally expect he’ll do something else though regardless.
The question is if he will find anything at comparable market value. His show sucked so he won’t get scooped up by another network.

My guess is he does a podcast or something he can finance himself.

It’s hilarious to see Dems pitch a fit over an unfunny show that was hemorrhaging money.

This makes democrats look really bad. They have no understanding of economics and that was the same way they governed.

I don’t know their finances or what they were making on advertising. But I do often find it humorous how often you share your opinion as if it is fact.

If Netflix picks up the Colbert show I’ll come and post an admission that I’m wrong.

until then we will have to assume the show cancelled because it sucked.

The maga bubble

The brain is wired to protect itself from perceived threats, including threats to one's beliefs. This can lead to resistance to new information that challenges those beliefs.

You are so hilariously dumb posting like a child trying to annoy its older sibling. “If I keep saying it sucked over and over again eventually they will either accept it or just get tired of arguing against me and will give up, therefore I win”. That’s your approach. We’ve all told you in a dozen different ways how the show objectively was not bad, and certainly did not “suck”. Just because you didn’t enjoy the programming as someone who hates all things pop culture does not mean the other hundreds of millions of Americans felt the same.

I encourage you to get out in the real world. Leave your hometown, leave your state. When you’re really feeling crazy, try leaving the country once in a while. You’d be surprised how much you learn about the US by spending time abroad. Although I would wager that you would learn very little

wait, I thought that they agreed to a financial settlement in order to get a merger approved. They fired Colbert for the same reason?

Damn, Trump may be the world's best negotiator ever

Sucked is subjective and an opinion no matter how you slice it, but cool
It can also be quantified. Losing $20 -$40 million a year means your show sucks.

How many football games lose money on television? Golf tournaments? Basketball games?

What other tv shows do you know of that lose money and are great shows?

None of those games come on at 11:30 at night when the majority of the population is asleep, and besides that, sports have a much wider audience than talk shows. Dumb comparison.

Also, the network tv shows have huge overhead costs, including large staffs and house bands at a time that late night tv ad spending has been cut in half in recent years. In comparison, Gutfield comes on in primetime with no competition and has very low overhead costs, which likely makes it less un-profitable. That doesn't mean he doesn't suck and Colbert does because we're talking about two different models.

Not sure why I even bothered to waste my time explaining this to you because you're really just a massive board troll detached from reality, but whatever.

Great football players get cut every year because they cost too much.

Maybe it was a business decision, but when you factor in Trump’s bogus law suit iin the MO of his mentor Roy Cohn and year to year quarter comparison variables?

not sure what point you're trying to make. The show lost $40 million a year. In reality if CBS just left the time slot empty they would be "making" money by not losing money. I assume that's at least one of the goals of CBS - make money

you can't really be this dense.

it's beyond unAmerican for a network to have to settle a ridiculous case without merit simply because they were worried that this flagrantly corrupt administration would block a planned merger. just like it's ridiculous that a sitting VP would be flying to meet with a modern oligarch like Murdoch who ironically enough is responsible for this corrupt administration in the first place.

i guess you think that Fox News should now be sued for the way they edited Trump's clip about whether or not he would release the Epstein files if elected.

stop being obtuse with these basic concepts of free speech and freedom of the press that previous adminstrations had no issue with until a lying piece of **** like Trump and his unqualified cultist minions wound up in power.

My point would make perfect sense if you paid attention to the post I was responding to, meanwhile, your point is immaterial to the point we were discussing.

this moron claims to be some kind of capitalist savant but thinks the #1 rated show in its time slot "sucked" :ROFLMAO:

How many late night shows are there? Just because it's the highest rated show out of 3 shows doesn't mean it's good... it wasn't.

Lemme guess the lawsuit against Fox that forces them to fire Tucker was legit, but the lawsuit against CBS was bogus.
