Reason why Murray possibly won't reclassify?

I know there is speculation out there about whether Murray will or won't reclassify to 2015. With him already being 18yrs old, I'm curious as to why he wouldn't and think its a no brainer. Anyone have any ideas or knowledge of these situations that maybe could shed some light on reasons that would keep him from reclassifying? I never knew that was an option back when I was in school.

Because he wasn't planning on doing it as of 2 weeks ago. Because it involves meeting academic requirements that he might not have planned on completely finishing until next year. Because he might have to stuff some classes into the summer, and maybe he doesn't want to have to do that.

If it's mostly a matter of paperwork, then yeah, it does seem like a no-brainer. But we don't know exactly what it involves.

The good news is that 90% of the real stud prospects where this has been rumored have ended up doing it, successfully. So I'm optimistic.

Good points. From what I've read, he has been considering it for a while now. Even the announcers stated he was considering it because of his age during the broadcast of Summit.

Trust me. If we miss out on Newman (which I still think we'll get him), then Murray will reclassify and he'll be a cat soon after.

Yeah I've seen that he has been considering since before January of this year. People seem not to know that he played in the hoops summit game last year also and scored 10 points as a sophomore. He has proved he can compete with the top competition, but I think he was lacking a major offer to reclassify like UK or Duke. Now that he has that and UK needs another guard, I would think he would jump at the offer. He will be in Lexington this week so hopefully they end up touring the campus and enjoy what they see.

There could be a lot of reasons why a kid decides against reclassifying. However, there is usually one reason why most prospects who consider it end up doing it. It puts you one year closer to being NBA draft eligible. One year closer to being a millionaire. That is usually the most compelling factor.

We understand why someone would reclassify, that's not the question with Murray. Its why wouldn't he considering he is already 18yrs old.

Someone above made a good point that he was possibly waiting on an offer from an elite to make the jump. Sounds logical to me. We are all hoping that he will jump to 2015. I just can't come to a logical reason why he would not.

I thought Canadians went 13 yrs to school while the USA goes 12. The classes he has taken there might not be what he needs to get in college here.

I haven't heard one thing to make me think he won't reclassify. All of the smoke signals and tea leaves are pointing in that direction. So the question is really odd to begin with. Why might he stay in high school? There could be infinite reasons why he would stay. Making sense of why a teenager makes one decision over another is not easy to do. Case in point, Malik Newman.
