| Posted: Today 10:15 AM [h=4]ENOUGH[/h] There comes a point in time when enough is enough. And, Rebel fans, coaches, alumni, and players, we have reached that point. Enough. Dan Mullen degrades you with every breath he takes as head coach of Mississippi State University. He uses his position as a pulpit to spew venom about our beloved University, and his crowd loves it. I can think of no greater sign of disrespect than consistently refusing to acknowledge an institution’s given name. His continued belittling of Ole Miss fosters a common goal and feeling amongst State fans: Beat Ole Miss and Hate Ole Miss. And, they have. And, they do. It ends this weekend. It ends because we want it more. It ends because our players play for the love of team and his players play for the love of self. It ends because our coaching staff does not use fear and threats and cussing and embarrassing and belittling as a motivational tool. It ends for the Seniors. It ends for a kid that would do anything to be on that field helping it end: DT Shackelford. It ends for Ferbia Allen. It ends for Randall Mackey, the epitome of selflessness and teammate. It ends because Denzel Nkimdeche will not let it continue. It ends because AJ Hawkins and Mike Marry thought enough of their future school that they took a year off from football, to “gray-shirt,” instead of signing with other schools and playing immediately. It ends because Senquez Gholson isn’t playing Double-A baseball in Portland, ME. It ends because Bo Wallace is “all-boy.” It ends because no one touches Bo Wallace, for 60 minutes, behind the line of scrimmage. Because, if Matt Luke were playing, all 260lbs of him, would be willing us to an Ole Miss win. It ends because our future is brighter than our past: on and off the field. It ends because a coach raised in Independence, MS, knows more about this rivalry and has a far greater passion for it than a coach raised in Manchester, NH. And, when it ends, we will walk of the field. We will not make videos showing the Egg Bowl trophy visiting the Rib Cage in Oxford. We will not come up with a clever nickname for Mississippi State. We will not play in that mud. For, this ending isn't something that’s unusual. This ending will be a beginning again of normalcy. We will have eaten this awful meal for 1092 days. I will do everything I can to make sure it ends this weekend. Players, will you? Coaches, will you? Rebel fans, will you? REBEL NATION, WILL YOU? |
