How good is V-Tech's RTC? Wasn't that Bassett's big takeaway for decommitting? I don't recall them putting up world and Olympic medalists? I mean our recent list is real short too but hell even Neb. would be a better RTC than V-Tech. What a complete mind boggling decision, all because you want to be flown out to RTC practices. Best of luck I guess but I too think they'll be in the portal sooner than later. V-Tech doesn't have the fan base for their egos.
I think there is a fair argument that Andonian and Henson are better partners than anyone around his weight at the Iowa RTC.

At this point we've all heard this song before. Nothing against you, but I'll just keep my powder clean til the recruits, whomever they are, are on campus. Which has generally been my policy, although I admit I got off-track with the Raneys, whom are my favorite prospects in years just due to crazy *** style.
We need to land these 2 and their brothers, after the collapse of the 2026 class. With Sidun buddies with Hutcherson, and him also a PA kid, it would seem like the odds of us beating PSU for him are slim. I think by then PSU will actually need him.

And how many teams have those two made? I expressed that Neb., PSU, and OSU all have more recent World/Olympic team members than V-Tech have had...the RTC argument seems pretty empty with this decision. Which whatever, go where you want but don't pee down my back and tell me it's raining.

At or around Bo's weight, Andonian and Henson stack up with any other pair currently at any other RTC, that is most likely a big pull. If he wants to be a building block for a program and RTC, there is a strong foundation already there. That's not piss on your back, just butt hurt tears from all your tin foil brethren.

Don’t worry Iowa may have another swing at Bassett. We will see how long V Tech can keep the clan happy. Melvin was always the real prize and the Dad wouldn’t let them go to different schools. He made it both or none. Yes it sounds crazy but not every school is sold on Bo. Not sure Iowa even was totally.

All I said was that they feel like linchpin pieces to the 2027 class - not that Iowa was guaranteed to land them 🤷‍♂️

And hey, you're talking to someone who had a pre-written commitment article for the Raneys - so I know what disappointment feels like lol
Yeah that one surprised a number of people. Making predictions is a risky business when 18 yr old kids are involved. I agree with your “lynchpin” anslysis. Kenny would be a big get at a need weight.

Actually it was my way of saying Iowa has a 125🤷
What are our chances with Paul Kenny or any other 133 prospects?

Seems like next year 133 is Kale’s Petersens spot to lose unless we are looking back to the portal. I honestly like a healthy Kale Petersen, he beat Nasir and gave Nic bouzakis a good fight his senior year in freestyle. Great work ethnic and I’m sure he can become better up a weight.

I think Iowa has a good shot at Kenny

He’s not touching the stand anytime soon. They will try to find someone in the portal.

...did not Borge show up in a picture of PSU recruits recently? He seems like a world traveler...

With WNO being in Coralville, I wonder if some of the recruits will be hanging out with some of our team and coaches in Iowa City. Any non-officials happening while they are in town?

Hopefully better results than when someone came to town for Spencer's FS match

Back to the Bassett/Miller deal. Until they actually land in VT I won't believe it. Not saying they will let old wounds heal and come here but Blacksburg is not their idea of a dream destination IMO. They've already proven they can be dissuaded

So in other words, they may be buying time in hopes for PSU or Oky st to change their mind. I agree they would never swollow the pride enough to come back here, or at least dad wouldn’t. Remember, 2 weeks before their official visit, dad went on social media ripping our fan base and saying none of his kids would ever wrestle for Iowa. After being humbled at WTT this summer, you wonder if he had second thoughts about living up to the expectations he set for our fans, and overplaying their hand was an excuse for backing out to go to a much smaller program.

I like Kenny . Borge will be bigger 141/49
I saw Borges pictures on Instagram with his brother. Anyone know where if his younger brother may be as good or better prospect as he is? If so, that could be 3 brother combo’s in one class.

Israel Borge (the one that visited Iowa, 2027 class) has an older brother (2026 class), who goes by Curtis and Zion, who recently flipped from Army to Missouri. I would think that puts Missouri in the upper tier of possibilities. I read that the Borges are Missouri natives but wrestled in Utah for some reason.

I knew I didn't dream this up that I read where Borge was projected 125 / 133 (last line of this article). Not saying this is correct BTW, I've seen some crazy projections in the past on weight classes plus it's just tough projecting kids that have two years of HS left. I saw that Israel wrestled 138 last year in HS and thought that 125 had to be out of the picture but thought maybe he was wrestling higher without cutting at all for the comp and 133 was still in the picture.

That article also called Melvin Miller by the last name Williams. I wouldn't take the 125/133 thing seriously he was 138. The guy who wrote that article is lost

According to Basch Amato is committing within this week or early next week.
Just got done listening to the pod as well. Willie said he believes it’s Iowa. Hopefully this is a start to a great haul in this class.

Hoping Bachmann, Kelly, or Borge. 2/3 of those 3 would be great.

How good is Shamus Regan? Know he was at Wyoming Seminary and now at Bishop McCourt. He visited us and was at that camp that had Sidun, the Bassets, and Mario H.

I would take 2 Bachmanns over 1 Borge. But I think Bachmanns grow and you can fit them all in.
I totally agree, just don’t want to get my hopes up. Ultimately, I would prefer to land Kenny and Bachmann because they come in 2 and have deep deep connections with other recruits. That FCA pipeline would be great.

Just lowering my expectations because of everything that has transpired within the last couple of years of recruiting; but really really hoping for us to land Bachmann and Kenny!

Especially with woods departure. DeSanto is a high end talent no doubt, but I also question how good of a training partner he'd actually be for other people tbh
