Ben needs to get on the Gennings Dunker diet. 8 protein shakes a day and about 8000 calories. He has a great frame to put on a bunch of good pounds.
Ehh. His trajectory seems fine thus far. He was a freshman AA in a big boy weight while having his practice limited playing two sports. No need to get too big too fast. Add I’m guessing he may have been limited with his hip last year also since he had surgery following the season

Hmm. He was a slightly undersized HWT as a Freshman and was weighing in the 230s. And AAd in a stacked weight with Covid seniors….Hot take. He is an elite HWT. He put weight on from year one to two while playing two sports. That couldn’t have helped.
hope you are right man.

If he could add good weight did it would have been done by now.
He was eating I think 6000 plus calories a day and lifting and put on minimal weight. Sounds like it was hard to maintain that small weight gain during the season . He just has to hope his metabolism slows down while he’s still in college. If both of his parents were tall and thin no matter what they ate when his age, he may not be getting much bigger in college. We know at least one of Mocco’s parents had no problem filling out heavyweight while in college, so I assume as he mature’s the next few years he can fill out.

Antonio Mills has flipped his commitment from Mizzou to Ohio State. Narrowly beat Paul Kenny at WNO.
Was this very recently? They can’t get Bachman now also, because Mills little brother will end up there also, if things work out for Antonio. I don’t know much about them. Are they good citizens and good students, or are they high risk high reward kids?

It’s not a matter of slowing down. As he gets bigger and puts on mass hes just going to require even more calories to maintain the size. The biggest issue was Probly playing two sports with basically no off season for just lifting and gaining mass. Add that wrestling is just metabolically demanding. And if he wants to get better at wrestling he needs to be wrestling and not just lifting, stuffing his face and focusing on recovery as he likely would b if he was playing football only .

Weird question about their character. Haven't seen you ask that about other recruits.

Interesting.

This is their second time flipping their commitment. They once signed with NCSt. And then switched to Mizzou and now to tOSU.

I’m curious if we were recruiting the Mills boys since they were obviously still in the market. I’m nervous with Adam Waters committed to tOSU if that will help sway Bachmann. If the Bachmanns are added to the Buckeyes, they will be looking dangerous in the future…

125 - RFr. Dom M.
133 - RFr. Antonio M.
141 - Rjr. Ben D.
149 - RSr. Ethan Stiles/ Rjr. Maddox Shaw/ TFr. Joe Bachmann
157 - RSr. Ethan Stiles/ Rjr. Maddox Shaw/ TFr. Joe Bachmann
165 - RJr. e’Than Birden
174 - ?
184 - Rfr. Adam Waters
197 - Rsr. Ryder R.
HWT - TFr. Michael Boyle

and Bachmann comes in 2, so his brother would help man the middle weights too. tOSU and MIZZOU seem like others that would land the Bachmanns. Hopefully we are leading in the Bachmanns recruitment but we will see.

Also, saw that ISU landed Jimmy Mastny, that’s a major pickup. He will probably be much higher in his class when he graduates. He’s great on top and in neutral, that’s a really solid lineup Mastny and Merrill.

Hoping that we can get some more good news on our front. Hope we just don’t land Amato… that would be a disappointment like the 2026 class. But again, not to be cynical, I wouldn’t be surprised if we only landed Amato, with our track history in recruiting. Really really hoping I’m wrong, but it’s best to have lower expectations lol

that is what worries be about BK. I dont know exactly when he was practicing both sports. 6k calories a day even if burning 3k a practice should put on weight.

Didn’t Ben add around 20 lbs of muscle from year 1 to year two? How much bigger is he this year?

I think he put on 10-15lbs last year. If he’s done growing it’s hard to expect more than that while he’s wrestling unless he was using PEDs.

Anyone know where we stand with Bachmann or another recruits? Are we leading with any recruits? Borge? Kenny? Bachmann? Regan? Or Grajeda?

Plus - it was always a stupid rule. It would be one thing if we had 100 programs, but geographically, it made no sense and really hampered guys.
Issue is only Oklahoma st was allowed to break the rule. USAW wouldn't return phone calls about it to other RTCs. Instead of saying we aren't gonna follow it because it's gonna change and notify all RTCs. They also changed it September 1 and nobody was aware. I know SHP discovered it recently. Flo was unaware of it.

Stupid rule is irrelevant it was a RULE in writing until September 1 and it was being broken. Will UsaW do anything no. But the NCAA will want to know who was paying for the flight and apartments. They had kids flying back and forth during regionals and sectionals and training 😂😂. Oklahoma St womens tennis just got a 3 year NCAA ban in July. The compliance department allows some wild stuff 🤷

Yeah. That part is going to be interesting if anyone even follows up on it. It was enough of an open secret that Bassett dad was "asking for the same" from Iowa.

Crazy USAW wouldn't answer any other teams when they "allowed" okiest compliance to say that the guys signing a lease in stillwater allowed them to train at the RTC.

A Oklahoma st insider said the NCAA is investigating it 🤷. When they come in they're like the FBI and interview coaches and athletes and dig into everything.

The 250 rule UsaW can punish but never have that I have heard of. But the NCAA will want to know way more then that. Summer 2024 was when it all started. It didn't become a thing until the Bassett camp was asking for what Jax is getting and then people starting asking questions

Are things expected to get "interesting"? It'd be kind of humorous to see DT get his wings clipped before he really gets started.

But what NCAA rule was being violated that the NCAA would investigate?

At the time the House settlement wasn't yet in place, and it seemed NCAA was then doing nothing that might seem to restrict earnings of NCAA athletes (let alone HS athletes)?

Do I believe they're investigating no . But that's what was said 🤷. I'm not up to date on all the rules. But I don't see how having kids flying back and forth for competitions and training in Stillwater during the season is legal but maybe it is🤷. And compliance saying just get an address in Stillwater and everything is ok being ok either. But I'm not a compliance officer

So just to make sure I understand, we lost our best recruit since Spencer Lee because of a rule that nobody enforced and was removed altogether a few months after the blowup. Did I miss anything?

Yes and no.

Bassett training at HWC for any extended amount of time was DOA with compliance. Not happening.

Bassett requesting travel be paid for was DOA for Brands/compliance.

IF Iowa compliance had ok'd RTC extended stays, I do wonder if Bassett is still a Hawk. Not sure if Dad would have been so adamant about travel being paid for, but my gut says he would have.

Didn’t he have a 5 million deal over 5 years? I can see why Tom felt insulted about paying for travel.

If Tom gave them everything they wanted, there likely would have been more demands....never ending demands. I don't know this, but I suspect the father was never keen on Iowa and basically all these demands were to get Tom to blow his stack submarining the whole deal. To me there was a lack of respect for Iowa's coaches.

Bassett dad didn't want the deal to blow up (it was a LOT of money guys). He just wanted more and couldn't handle seeing Jax have the success he did. Bo not making any teams really hurt the pride.

Do we know, does Iowa compliance continue with this stance today?
