Actually…this is a crucial game for Morehead…they’re the 1st team looking in currently.

Playing Reidsville may just push them over the hump.

Of course…I wouldn’t be surprised if the new energized Trinity bunch beats SWR now and hangs on to their spot…heck…they may even move up with a win.

Can’t help but chuckle….its crazy how reading a post can send you down a rabbit hole. I was wondering when Morehead last won a playoff game…sooo…I started digging.

I was blown away…2015 3a bracket was their last playoff win…it was over Havelock. Do what?
Morehead lost a 3rd round heart breaker 35-31 to the eventual state champion Rocky Mount Gryphons!

Who knew?

lol....maybe a handful of morehead supporters knew...Morehead believe it or not used to be pretty strong in football and basketball...they won numerous titles in basketball in the 50's and 60's (some of those as Tri-City high in basketball)...Name was changed to Morehead in 1957 (I think)......in football won a title in late 50's over Rockingham (now part of Richmond County) and finished second to the same the next year.....went to both of those games as a youngster....I'm 74 now so.............................................

That was a really good Morehead team. They had a better overall season then Reidsville, but the rams pulled it out.

I wonder if he will take over next season.
I highly doubt it. I personally would rather Dionte stay at qb next year because of how dynamic of a player he is, it really adds another layer to our already incredibly dangerous offense. Braxton will have his chance eventually but getting another year to develop on JV wouldn't be the worst thing for him in my opinion

I don't disagree. I'd personally like if Braxton was ready to go we would have kendre, dionte and galloway as the main wr options next season.

Regardless, our biggest holes next season will be at running back and offensive line. Losing Cobb and 4/5 starters at OL is gonna be tough. There will still be a plethora of talent at QB and WR as always no matter what.

Ol should still be solid even though we are losing some guys. Mario Whitsett will be ready, we will have a new center and its a few big guys that should be ready to step in. The running back position is my main concern. Michael Smith should be ready to get some carries, but he will also be very needed on defense.

Whitsett and Jaquez Tynes will likely both start at guard next year. They currently alternate drives at RG. Guys like Christen Kelly and Trey Slade will be ready to step into starting roles as well. I think Rosario Rubio will be a stud offensive lineman for us but he'll only be a freshman next season.

As far as running back, we're gonna have several decent guys like Michael Smith, Josiah Samolu, Kesean Henry, and rising freshman Jayden Stone but nobody that will be anywhere near the level of Cobb (which to be fair is hard to do).

Got word this morning that Cobb is officially out for the year. Just about the worst thing that could've happened to us.
Huge loss ... no way can you replace one of the best in the state.
Next man up ... but who is that? Don't want Neal to do a lot more running. Candidates are Miller (5-11, 170 senior); Samalou (5-10, 145 freshman); Smith (5-9, 165 junior) and Savvion Johnson (5-9, 185 junior) . Through 9 games, Samalou had the most yards and that was only 74 yards on 14 carries in mop-up time.

I look for more flanker reverse type plays. Or just throw it on every down.
