My condolences to Zappa and the entire Berra family. I grew up in the 50's and saw almost Yogi's entire career. He was one special human being. He never said a bad thing about anyone and was one of the greatest baseball players to ever live. He will be missed but will never be forgotten. Please treasure all of the memories.
R.I.P.Yogi. You were my dad's favorite from his youth and until this very day. He actually recalls your stats from his 1st trip ever to Yankee Stadium, IIRC a DH against The Tigers, and still talks about that day (impressed Dale, prior to the RU-UNC hoops game at MSG a few years ago, with those stats, as well...). From St. Louis to The Yankees to The Beaches of Normandy and Africa, back to The Yankees, The Hall of Fame, management and on Montclair with your family, stadium, and museum, you were a "renaissance man" in your own right an will be missed, literally, by 100's of millions.
This is a very, very sad day and I wish nothing but my deepest, most sincere condolences, to Zap and his family. Your father was a "hero" in every sense of the word my friend.

RIP Yogi. My condolences to the Berra family. Yogi touched the hearts of many. As a kid in elementary school the first book that I ever had to write a report on...and I chose a book about Yogi. I recall reading the book and not wanting to put it down until I finished...covering his childhood in St. Louis, through his Yankee years, etc. I wish I still had the report and the book.

When I was a young child - you & I are about the same ages - your dad was one of my dad's favorite players growing up, and in turn one of mine. As I got older, I realized for myself how great of a player and manager he was, and appreciated the class he had and the Yankee tradition that he represented. He was a "one of a kind", and now he is in a better place with your mom in the "Big Ballpark in the Sky". RIP, Yogi, and thanks for the great memories!

My condolences to Zappaa and the Berra family. As a huge Yankee fan I'm always saddened by the loss of a great player, but thankful for all the wonderful memories.
I know that Yogi was a great baseball player and legendary Yankee, but I always picture him in uniform managing the Mets, particularly during the 1973 playoffs and World Series. He's a very unusual NY baseball figure in that he is adored by both Yankee and Met fans. He also became a Jersey guy and a Rutgers fan. What isn't there to love about the guy.

Zappaa - my deepest condolences on your loss, but at the same time, having read so many of your posts, I know how much your dad gave to you and your family and you'll always have that to cherish.
