Condolences.

Among all the great accomplishments in Yogi Berra's life, one that often stands out to me is that it is said that he never said a bad thing about anyone. I use that as guidance. I don't always succeed, but I keep trying to follow Yogi's example.

Zappaa, truly sorry for your loss. I grew up listening to stories from my uncles and father about Yogi Berra, the great baseball player, but you hear so many more stories about Yogi Berra the great person. There have been many Yankee greats, but your father was the most beloved.

Zap, I am old enough to have been a kid Yankee fan, reveling in the success of your Dad, DiMaggio, Henrich, Rizzuto, Mantle and the rest. Of all those, your Dad stood out because he drew people to him. Maybe the best example was not those corny AFLAC commercials, but his narration of the lengthy TV piece on the closing of old Yankee Stadium. Just the right mix of pride, wistfulness and nostalgia, and you just knew that was the real Yogi Berra. A childhood hero that proved to be worthy of admiration. The last of my childhood heroes, and a life well lived. Best wishes to you and your family. If there is a heaven, Yogi hasn't crossed through the gates yet because he is still swapping stories with St Peter.

Rest in peace Yogi. I became a Yankee fan as a kid growing up in Ontario, Canada in the 1950s, listening to the games on radio. My condolences to the Berra family.

My deepest condolences to the entire Berra family during this difficult time.

Without question, Yogi was among the rare breed who achieved iconic status in American culture in a manner that transcended his status as a baseball great. Many people who don't know the difference between a foul pole and foul ball know who Yogi was.

Dale. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Your dad was a hero to me and so many others of us, especially those of us who lived through his career. When my Little League's class dinner at St Clare's in Clifton NJ, for those of us who were moving on to The Babe Ruth league, way back in 1959, I received my trophy from your dad. It was quite a remembrance for me and the other players who received the same. God bless and keep Lawrence Berra and his beautiful wife.

Many times I've felt a little tinge of sorrow or regret at the passing of a great sports legend or celebrity, but I don't think I was ever affected by such a loss in the way I am today. He lived such an amazing life and was such a gracious man. He will be missed but always remembered!

Sorry for your loss! Truly a unique, down to earth individual & family man. Would have loved to have met him, but I can't imagine having enough time with him to hear his many stories.
I may be totally off base, but when I think of him, I think of Casey & the Scooter.
Truly a great loss not only for your family, but for so many people!
God Bless!

Truly sorry Zap. Your dad will always remain with me as the first pro I ever saw at my first baseball game at Shea in 1971. Anyone who knows anything about baseball shares your loss.

Look out Jackie Robinson. Yogi's on the way and he's got something to say about you stealing home in the World Series.

Dale, to you and your family my deepest condolences. This morning while watching the Yankee memorial for Dad and the interview with your brothers I couldn't help to feel the same heart felt feelings I had for my own dad..The story you told about the humble man your Dad was after being fired as a manager when you were on the yankees and Billy martin was to take over..must of been gut wrenching to have been part of it and at the same time enlightening as to what a great person you had as a dad especially how he handled it so humbly! We will miss Yogi but will never forget what a hero and national treasure he will always be!!
