I don’t know what sites you go to but since the season ended everything that Paul said and did pointed to him leaving. He said his goodbyes. It was only wishful thinking that led some to believe that he was coming back.
Paul told many he was coming back

St. Johns
I said the same thing went people were suggesting Simeon Wilcher would go there. St. Johns guard room is already pretty full. Pitino already has his first team all MAAC point Jenkins and his backup from Iona coming in, and Jordan Dingle, RJ Luis and Nahiem Allenye from UConn at shooting guard, and Dingle has been promised time playing on the ball. They don’t have room for someone like Paul.

Commuter school? I don't think you know what that means
Exactly. ND is the opposite of a commuter school. They actually place an emphasis on dorm life and living on campus.

Non athlete students are required to live on campus for 3 years. Athletes must live in the dorms with regular students at least freshman year. There are no athlete-only dorms. Usually, athletes move off campus to an apartment or sport specific house nearby after freshman or sophomore year.

As the father of a rising senior at ND, I can say I’ve never heard anyone there call themselves a commuter school.

As for Paul fitting in, there are a ton of kids at ND from the NY/NJ area.

Forgive me - I used the wrong term. I meant that it’s not mostly Indiana kids. It’s kids from all over. Would not be a culture shock at all there.

No worries and you are 100% correct about the students being from all over.

Biggest culture shock - the pizza there sucks.
