Richmond raiders coach suspended

A Guidance Counselor in Richmond County had a misdemeanor recently & was given the option to resign or she would be fired. Of course, she wasn't Cindy Goodmans hand-picked Boy-Toy. But Castellano gets a misdemeanor and is given a 1-week suspension.
I was disappointed in the hiring process back in May & I'm disappointed with the Double standards now. Ho-Ho Goodman must go!

I thought the punishment fit the crime.... In both cases....
I agree raiderman2001. If I remember correctly the counselor involved a small child in shoplifting.Some question has come up about why Coach C was in Cary. I don't know but since he coached there last year maybe he still has a lease on his apt. there. Also he could have been visiting friends there. The incident occurred just after 9 pm and in the big city this is early.They have not given any indication as to whether it was alcohol or not but that seems to be the case. If so they did not say what he blew on the breathalyzer. Anything anyone says is just speculation and that includes me. As all of you know I was a supporter of Coach Hoggard. The fact that I supported coach Hoggard does not change my support of the new coach and most important the kids. The one week suspension is without pay, he will have court and attorney cost as well as increased insurance cost. The man made a mistake! I say lets put this behind us and move on. Only the future will tell if Coach has learned a lesson and if he will continue to be the coach at Richmond. Just maybe he can use this bad experience as a teaching tool with the kids..

I wonder how many small children and families he passed on the road before he was stopped by the police......I would think they were in more danger than shoplifting.......He was in Cary because that is where he lives. Stop sugar coating this......the man was driving under the influence.
Its not anyone's business why the coach was in Cary. He has recently lived there. Its not anyone's business what his resident address is either. The man made a mistake and financially and legally he will have to pay. He is an adult and has been shamed enough by the press. He doesn't need his own fanbase drilling him just because they had other candidates they wanted for a coach.
Keep this up and nobody will want to coach at Richmond. If he was hurting the kids or not doing his job then I could see it. He hurt himself.

Would you say the same if we rewind the VCR or VHS and it showed him killing an innocent bystander then forward it back to the current date/time group? What would your new answer be?

173, since you have your foot in your mouth, go to WRAL and tell us about the two times: 1991/2007 (the hero you worship down in Fairmont) was charged with DWI and flipped his car the 2nd time.

You maybe right 4cf, but while he was bashing PS new coach, he made it seem like his favorite coach were if he was the best thing since slice bread and did no wrong, and then made silly comments about Coach Cast and his DUI, just wanted to give him a wake up call and reminder.
I remember Shawn Stinson writing an article for the Daily Journal that said Dr. Goodman's legacy as Superintendent would always be tied to this hire. Why, because it was her 1st major task as Supt. & she was so involved in the process.

We went from a Coach with great moral standards that did things the right way to one who gets caught driving while impaired after 4 games. This is a travesty for Richmond County.

I expect him to be gone before then. He's made Goodman look bad b/c he was the choice of her & her imps. Wonder if the committee members that didn't want him are like.......I told you so?
So it's Goodman's fault that Coach Castellano got arrested on suspicion of a DWI?
The daily journal should do their due diligence and let u know the names and addresses of every school system employee with a dui arrest.
Last time I chechecked Richmond was number 1 in the state in Sui arrest so they may be able to fill an entire paper with the info.

I wonder if all the Coach Hoggard lovers would be if it was him in the same situation? would you still want hoggard as the coach?
Right now it is not DUI.....it is DWI and many of you assume and probably be correct .....he was drunk according to limit. (.08) He could be driving while taking very strong medicine. I know some meds can affect your driving big time. It is misdemeanor so why some of you want him gone just because he made a mistake. Some of you see black and white and the world does not work in black and white way. There is a lot of gray involved. There are many people I know that drinks and they are great people. Yes he should thought ahead and do right things because he is a role model for the kids at ANY school. Of course for those people who do NOT drink would not understand this.
I don't feel sorry for the Richmond fans because you guys make very very hard for any coach to enjoy coaching Richmond and do the best he can. It will be a long while before Richmond can win State Title because landscape of football has been changed. you guys won it all in 2008 and that is a long time ago and that year was a huge fluke since all four teams from same conference were in state finals. Charlotte dominate 4AA since 2001 and that is a FACT some of Richmond fans won't accept. I am not saying that coach should drink but I can understand how much stress that coach at Richmond HS gets. You guys make one coach leave and maybe drive some coaches to drink.

You should support the coach at the fullest and yes make him pay with that mistake with suspension. If he does it again, then he probably should be fired. Actually I do remember. In 91 this website didn't exist, in 07 he took his lumps on here and his punishment. That being said I wasn't the one stupid enough to get behind the wheel high on a SUBSTANCE. It's not my fault that the famous Richmond county has their share of troubles just like everywhere else. Instead of drinking the raider magic try and sprinkle in on the footballs again. But don't tell the ball boys! By the way I am home in the comforts of my house having my second one for the day. Not in a town 1 hr from my house and I am the one that if I need to go anywhere am smart enough to get a ride. Oh yeah I will get paid this week too!

Nope the last I posted about swett was Friday around 10 pm and only typed a number. It took me a whole 48 plus to mention RC coach. But, to my defense they do make it easy. Don't hate on me for stating the obvious.
Also, can I ask why does it matter who I drink with? Plus I have never drank alone. To many bracelets in my man cave that are there to help me pop the top again. But no matter how many I have or who I am or not with I am not dumb enough to get behind the wheel of a car. Not bad for not having a higher degree of education nor to be hired by a board that has the same education.
As long as there are ppl in the world to make dumb decisions I will be there to poke and jab at it. Don't hate me for not feeling sorry for stupid.

Did you get your degree at UNC in African American studies? No it is not illegal to drink and drive as long as it is soda or water. You can have a open container in SC as long as you are not driving. If you have one beer, Percocet, or baby aspirin and the cop thinks it is influencing you ability to drive then you will a DWI. If you blow over a .07 then you will be paying a lawyer about 10 grand to help you out of troubles.
