Here is the story. During the baseball game Saturday #19 a relief pitcher we called mini me thought it would be cool to run out to the right field field fence and jump into it during one of the mid-inning stretch breaks that both teams take. Me and the rest of the right field tailgaters were not paying attention when he did it and didn't notice a player came out there until he jumped into the fence and ran back back to his teammates to stretch. We immediately regretted not being prepared for that and said if he did it again on Sunday,we would be.

So Sunday rolls around and these guys are cocky and mouthy as ****. Of all the teams we have played in the last years since I've been going out there, these asshats were the worst. We spotted him in pregame warmups and told him if he came back out to the warning track again, he would be met with resistance in the form of cold beverages. He yelled something back that we couldn't hear but it was obvious he heard us.

He decided to test his luck during the third or fourth inning and ran out and a few of us gave him a nice shower since it was hot outside. He ran back laughing and looked to be enjoying himself.

The next inning number 30. A volunteer assistant ******* named larry day (who by the way was mr irrelevant in the 2007 mlb draft, so you know he has a chip on his shoulder) came out to yell at us. He said some **** like you guys are punks, 17 you, etc... We of course gave it back to him but I was pretty shocked at how cocky those vandy ***** were. Little yazstremski would yell back at us and guys coming into the bullpen would talk ****.

So were we bad fans or did those smart kid vandy bitches deserve it?

Personally, after going to the vandy series last year and dealing with fans and their cocky players this year, I'm 100% backing it.

What you got pack?

You and your friends are dumbasses. Pretty much.

You knew that before you posted though because your post was defensive throughout. All of that explaining and trying to cover your *** for being an idiot doesn't work, dude.

And I never, ever, thought about throwing a beverage on a player. Now him running into the fence is %!$!%!* bush league and I certainly would give him hell for it calling him everything i could think of including insulting his mother, sister, gf etc, but i'll never throw water/beer/coke on a player.

You were in the wrong.

Their hoops fans aren't good.
Some of their fans sat two rows in front of us and they showed their butts.
After Sunday's game, as I was walking out I saw one old Vandy fan and I told her to have a safe trip home and she thanked me. I did this to another group and they looked at me like I was nuts.

I guess civility is frowned upon at Vandy.

I was in right field having a blast giving their bullpen guys hell. When that happened we all looked at each other and said basically oh ****, what a dumbass. There goes our easy beer drinking days at the dude. And we were right. That one play caused a change that lasted for years. I havent been to many games since the early 90's but what u did was idiotic. PERIOD. Nothing to be proud of at all.

I'm not sure this was the best thread to make that point in.

He fielded the ball right against the wall, got beer and whatever else poured on him. He threw the ball in, turned around, looked up like "what the 17?" Some Ole Miss fans came around the corner of the visitors bullpen and soon the cops/security showed up. We were sitting there watching the whole thing from about 4 spots over.<div>
</div><div>Pouring anything on a player is ******. Verbally abusing them to the point of them having a mental collapse, that's perfectly fine in my book.</div>

In a few years when they take away the deck along the outfield, don't let any fans near the fences, and have cops and security everywhere, it'll be because of fans like you.

People that do stuff like poor beer on players are the type of people that aren't smart enough to come up with good insults to yell.

The pack has spoken. To be fair, I wouldn't do this during play and didn't when yaz was back there during the Saturday game. Just couldn't allow that guy to get away with it for a third time. Always good to catch up on proper fan etiquette though. I cant promise that I won't have some red high heels with me for the ole miss series. (joking)

Yes, I was a pike... but was not a part of the beer pouring crew. Would love to hear the names of who did that in a PM. Didn't realize it was a group of guys I probably knew.

Baseball players are taught to not interact with fans during a game. So, their pitcher was in the wrong for that.

You were in the wrong for throwing beer on him.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Several years ago Ole Miss was playing a midweek game against, I think, Arkansas State. We were heckling the right fielder pretty bad, and some random ******* threw a tennis ball on the field in the middle of an inning. The ASU right fielder got mad, grabbed it, turned around, and launched it towards the student section...only it didn't clear the fence. Everyone in right field was on his *** for the rest of the night. It was hilarious.

I was there and actually got escorted out by LT, but didn't have anything to do with it. We (KA) had a "structure" in right field. Several of us were on the top deck drinking beer and enjoying the game. When the OM guy went to the fence, some guy standing by the fence dumped a full cup of beer on his head. Hell, our trailer was far enough away from the fence that the only way to throw a beer on a player would be to hurl an unopened can. Anyway, a few minutes later LT shows up, looks around and tellus to climb down and leave. You could tell heknew we didnt do it, but he had tomake a showing. He dodnt even ask our names. We were just a group of students close by with a cooler so he chose us.

I never knew who actually poured the beer on the player. It wasnt anyone I knew. I was pissed though. Campus security made us pour out all the remaining Beast Lights we had left in out cooler. So....if you are thebeer pourer, you owe me about20 Beast Lights (about $6).

I think you are a douche for doing that. Fans and players must be separated. In this case, the fence is the dividing line. If he jumps the fence, then feel free to whip his ***. However, he was on his side of the fence. No matter how badly he acts, you must stay on your side. Never should beer have been poured over the fence.

The KA tower was deconstructed soon after that, plus it was damn near impossible to bring beer in.

I remember it being Kakhi pants wearing Bobby Thompson rather than Larry, who was out there. Anyhow, I don't think it was the KA's.

I was also witness to the Oklahoma State dude mooning the outfield.
