You had a good run. I'll always have that sound of connecting to the internet in my head.

According to the Census Bureau, there were 163,000 dial up internet users in 2023. About 0.13% of households.I saw that headline. I really wanted to know how many of those subscribers were left.
I see your Compuserve and raise you my (dad's) old Prodigy. When this happens I'm going back to Compuserve. I usually start DL'ing emails before I leave for work and have them ready at dinner.
It's been real fellas but AOL dial up was the only way I could post here from the outskirts of Port Gibson on Bakers Creek. I can't send half of my paycheck to Elon for his StarJinx service.
I will sign off for good on September 30th and bid all here a heart felt fare thee well.
I picture anyone that still has AOL dial-up service as also being a doomsday prepper. They think it will be the only way to get online once all the cell towers and fiberoptic servers are taken out by the zombie apocalypse.According to the Census Bureau, there were 163,000 dial up internet users in 2023. Probably some of them. As if telephone service internet & AOL would be working then anyway. I suspect most are just people who either don’t have access to high speed internet and/or very rarely connect to the internet anyway. Biggest surprise to me was AOL still existed.I picture anyone that still has AOL dial-up service as also being a doomsday prepper.
