Round 3: Burns vs Salisbury

This will be a good ball game. Two talented teams with good skill guys.
Buy buy Salisbury lol as they told providence grove keep the bus running. I don’t know anything about Salisbury now though
Going to be key that Maddox is healthy with Salisbury’s big back. Other than him I’m not sure what to expect.
I watched Salisbury last week. I personally don’t think Burns will have any issues next week. Burns on to the next rd.

Could happen, depends on how much chases defense improved from last year.
Chase and JM Robinson score was a little too close. JM Robinson struggled with Wilkes Central...styles make fights though.
Someone give us the scoop on Salisbury. Schedule looked very weak. Brevard hung in there with them in Round 1. What can we expect?
I know you guys want revenge from a few years ago. I know Salisbury will always have athletes. I think burns 42-14
I think the brevard score alone tells us good bit. Just have to stay focused and not feel like getting by Shelby was the only obstacle.
Definitely have to forget about that Shelby game. Maybe enjoy it this weekend but come Monday Burns needs 100% focus on Salisbury
yeah this could easily be a trap game, coming in with no motivation. But I figure the last loss to Salisbury should be motivation enough.
Yes that was pure heart break in 2020. Shelby put these seniors out freshman year in western finals, Salisbury put them out sophomore year. Opportunity for some redemption through the playoffs.
It could be. But this senior/junior group has been motivated for years. All they have done since middle school is win. If Sweezy didn't get hurt in the 2020 Spring season, I think we beat Salisbury and win a state championship. That was Ben's first start as a freshman. So I know he is motivated. We had several sophomores on that squad that tasted defeat that year too. A last second field goal was the difference.
Winning a state title is motivation enough
Conditions played into that a bit. Anyone who has been around knows that Chase doesn’t always have the best field. One TD came off of a bad snap/blocked punt, another was a Chase guy slipping and sliding on his belly about 5 feet on a should be tackle. I agree though, a little too close.
That game in 2020 was a defensive struggle for the most part… I came to watch the week after Pryor ran for 400+ yards against my Panthers and it was a 10-7 ballgame!!! I think Burns is just as good or better this year from what I’ve seen and their offense won’t be as limited as it was that night in Spring of 2021…
Burns should have and had chances to win that game and left points on the field. Not to mention the phantom 4th timeout the Salisbury got.
Burns is the better team. Double digit win next Friday for Burns.
Crest and South Point play next week so I’m probably going to that game as I believe that will be the best game around.

Different years. Pryor was gone when we played Salisbury. That was when Norris was freshman and Mauney made his first start at QB. Definitely some of the most bone headed stuff I had seen in that game from a fan’s perspective watching the play call on offense. Burns is in a much better position this year though. Just gotta get our DL healthy.
Looking at the Hornets schedule Burns should win easily, however, this is the 3rd round of the playoffs. The Berry hangs around for a half but the Dogs pull away and get the win by two scores.
Easy to forget because the games were about 18 months apart due to COVID.
Salisbury is very athletic and can match up with anyone at the skill positions in 2A ball. QB is very athletic and throws a nice deep ball on the run and can tuck it and hurt defenses. RB is a monster runs like mack truck down hill and is fast. One WR whose brother plays at UGA is super fast also. O/D line is pretty solid and they cover teams well on defense. They just won the state title a few seasons ago and are a very good team. I look for a good game but Salisbury loses.
People said Reidsville had the cakewalk bracket. Maybe it was burns lol don’t winner of this play winner of east surry and Monroe?
I’m torn about those 2 because I didn’t think forest hills was any good and Monroe almost lost to them. Then Shelby beat the brakes off FH. Then east surry almost blew last night. So idk what to think about those 2.
We gotta beat Salisbury next Friday before we even think about it, but give us Monroe so we get a 4th round home game!
I for one like to travel late playoffs though. Great memories win or lose with the road trips with friends
Nothing better than going on the road in the playoffs and beating a team at their place. But just this year, I don't think anybody beats Burns at Burns. That's my reason for wanting Monroe if we beat Salisbury.
