RU Baseball has a 5 game homestand coming up, today vs Stony Brook, the Fri-Sun hosting Ohio St.
Stony Brook is very good. RU starting pitcher is Bellissimo.

Story with links to follow the action:

I also noticed on NJcom this morning, their list of top HS pitchers in NJ. One RU commit on the list:

Until we get a real coach from a nation search whith a track record of winning and recruiting it doesnt matter. We need to be bringing in drafted or draft scouted pritchers and hitters. we should have 3-4 rutkowski types and the same in the lineup. That is not that difficult.

Love that pitching list. Certainly makes sense the multiple pitchers going to rider and wagner. We cannot compete with top notch programs like that. The vandy assistant is doing a very good job. St johns as always doing very well. Rutgers is dead last of local schools. I am pretty sure that is a big change.

NJcom's list of top returning outfielders (3 or 4 RU commits) :

https://expo.nj.com/sports/g66l-201...-power-speed-defense-njs-top-outfielders.html

Getting back to the pitchers, I was hoping of driving over to nearby Seton Hall Prep to watch when they played Delbarton, in hopes of watching a Maldanado- Leiter matchup, but for some reason they aren't playing in the regular season. Most years they do. SHP is playing Roxbury and Randolph. Seton Hall Prep does have Group 1 Cedar Grove (my town) on the schedule. Why the heck schedule that game? There probably isn't one kid starting for Cedar Grove that would start for SHP. Complete mismatch.
Vanderbilt continues to grab top pitchers of NJ. They may not be very good in Football in the SEC , but they sure are in Baseball.

as mentioned the assistant from vandy should be at the top of our list. I wouldnt be surprised if cerar grove has 1 or 2 starter caliber players. Though I get your point. It is still baseball a lot more games to schedule. Maybe the cedar grove coach wanted to see a top team.

Players do not have to be NJ athletes. Recruit locally paradigm has killed us for years. That ship has sailed. Get Big Ten caliber players who want to compete for a Big Ten program.

I know you point and I agree. it has nothing to do with the fact that we shouldnt be getting beaten for quality pitchers that are better than what we are bringing in by rider and wagner. And while I said I agree. I dont really. We absolutely could get back to being an ncaa qualifer type by recruiting mostly in nj. Still that is completely different than failing and getting beaten by teams that shouldnt beat us. stoney brook, wagner, monmouth, rider. They should not be out recruiting us. If they have a pitcher that is a huge project like the monmouth pitcher and turns into a prospect that is different

Recruiting locally is not what has killed us. Hiring locally is what has killed us for years. how do you see us getting draft caliber players from the south or mid west or even the north east what is our sales pitch? if we had a great coach who could sell and had a track record of draft picks sure. So the answer is bring in a real head coach. I agree with that. i want to know why litterio hasnt been fired yet?
