RU Baseball weekend series vs Michigan St: today 1pm, Sat & Sunday :

Good opportunity for the Scarlet Knights to move up in the Big10 standings with a home 3 game series against Michigan St. LHP Rutkowski gets the start today at 1pm, Genuario and Murray get the starts Sat and Sunday. RU is currently in 10 place w a 2-4 conference record, Michigan St is last with an 0-5 record.

RU's Carmen Sclafani was named Player of the week with his power display, unfortunately he hurt his ankle or foot rounding 3rd at the end of last weekend's game and missed the mid week game earlier this week. Hopefully he returns for today's game as RU needs his bat desperately .

Has anyone heard anything on Sclafani’s prognosis? Also, is there any word on when DiGiorgio might return?

My understanding is that DiGiorgio is out for the year. No idea on Scalfani's status.

What injury did DiGiogio have. He was very good last year. Also what happened to Scalfani? I saw the win today. Hopefully we can win tomorrow and Sunday as well.

My understanding- a torn ACL with DiGiorgio. Don't know about Scalfani.

Sclafani was rounding 3rd when he got injured. He appeared to have rolled and sprained his ankle at the moment his foot hit 3rd base. I guess it could have been a hamstring. I doubt it was a knee. I'd guess it's his ankle.

Too bad that Sclafani got hurt immediately when he started to catch fire. Typical RU luck. I remember hearing DiGiorgio might be back for the Big Ten season, but I guess that is out now. He does not have a redshirt year to use because he sat out his first year.

Saw the first 7 innings. We are not a power hitting club & are not a running club either. How the hell are we going to be a winning club?

Spartans fall to 0-8 in conference. That's the kind of team we need to sweep if we want to be in the top half of the league. Mission accomplished.

Next weekend, we host Purdue (5-6 in conference) for three games. Very important for our place in the standings to get at least two of three.

Scalafine played the last 3 innings today. He did hit a double that was one bounce over the right field wall. We actually looked good as to pitching in this 3 game series over Michigan State. We are 5-4 now in the BIG and 13-19 overall. We need to beat Hofsra on Wednesday and beat Purdue next weekend at RU. We have won 5 in a row and need to continue the streak.

Michigan State is traditionally pretty good. Great weekend. Keep up the great work. A few years ago Kirk Gibson was at Bainton Field watching his son play.

He only pinch hit, after he doubled he left for a pinch runner.

RU now sits tied for 7th in the Big10.
