Wow! So I am watching on my phone coming back from NYC and it is freezing up a couple of times. I get home while PKS are going on and I finally make it up to where our PC is and get on this site and I find out they won before I saw the final two PKs. I still enjoyed it immensely! Tough way for either side to lose but the ladies have been knocked out by UVA a couple of time so great for them Wasn't sure Murphy had another save in her but nice save. On to Cary NC!
Let's talk about that PK round. All about psychology.
Rutgers takes two weak PKs that get stopped. Nerves. Murphy lets up some bad goals to go down 2-0 and makes one easy save before UVA blasted the crossbar with the game on the line. Murphy's struggling to get push after 110 minutes. Even when she's picking the right side, she's letting the ball get under her, which is incredibly frustrating to watch. Then Rutgers becomes unstoppable with their kicks. Placement and power were absolutely on point, including Murphy herself with possibly the biggest one to right the ship in the 3rd spot. After that, Murphy was able to pick her spots with the new lead and grabbed an easy save in the corner to win it vs. the lefty (who looked like she had very little confidence walking up).
Very happy for this team right now, who shut down a VERY good UVA offense!

WOW..what a freakin game... I was on the edge of my seat... 10 rounds of PK's after 2OT. I wasnt sure if we were gonna hang on :grimace:

Huge break on the cross bar. Once we got even and started knocking them in the top of each round the pressure totally shifted to UVA. I wonder how many times teams have come back from down 2-0 in first two rounds of PK's at this point in the tournament. I assume the national semifinals will be televised? Most likely ESPN?

A little luck with the UVa player hitting the crossbar in the 5th frame with a chance to win it helped swing things toward RU. Also impressive was the last 7 RU penalty kickers in a row, starting with the aforementioned Murphy, all hitting the back of the net when a single miss could have been spelled the end.

Wonderful to see that victory! I was out shopping and had forgotten about the match but got home and started streaming the video around the 7th minute.

Great comeback win on penalty kicks 7-6 over number 1 ranked Virginia on the road.Two wins away from a national championship for Rutgers which is incredible.Yes,the womens soccer team should be honored at half time of the football game against Maryland.
Much of the match was the UVA offense attacking the Rutgers defense. RU was always under pressure. But RU stayed cool, stood tall, and turned away each attack. Kudos to our defenders, including our terrific goalkeeper Casey.
Beat the #1 team in the nation--advance to the final four--amazing.
A great accomplishment for any team in the nation to achieve this level of success, let alone a Rutgers team that does not find itself in this situation very often.
Now lets find the money to build the soccer teams the greatest facilities in the BIG 10 and keep the HS talent home.

what a great job, womens soccer is becoming the face of Rutgers sports, first Carli and now this
WVU at PSU is at 4 PM tomorrow.

God actually likes Rutgers for once. The PK that would have won it for UVA hit the crossbar with our keeper going the other way. Unbelievable. We're usually on the other side of things like that.

..,will do wonders for our President's Cup ranking this year. Just need big seasons from Women's Hoops and Wrestling to maybe (have no idea but I'm not about to do the math right now) have our best year, or close, ever. Not sure where we finished the year the women went to the national finals.
