We should beat them handily, but UAB is going to be a lot better than USM. I'm confident but I also know the name on our jersey is, too...

Don't know if true but I've heard there's a safety and a juco transfer that both are unhappy and wanting out.

I am good with the back up QB for the next two games. He has not let us down yet and Arkansas and Ole Miss had way more talent then UAB.

I'm hearing the Starkville PD leaked this one.

They didn't even mean to talk about it. They were just trying to give traffic updates for this weekend's game and it just kinda came up in conversation.

Sounds like not honoring Bully I is starting to haunt us again. Dak is in a boot already? Player(s) transferring?

As I said before, we need to find the actual remains of Bully I and put up a plaque honoring him alone at the spot where his remains are. . The curse might then be removed. At his funeral in 1939 when we buried him underneath the players' bench, we promised to honor him and never forget him
. Now nobody knows where his remains are. We need to see if he was dug up when the drainage system was put in as some have speculated. And then go from there.

One of the heavy spenders should call Stricklin about this now before it gets worse.

He never said it was necessarily tied to playing time/starting . . .

No, but I'm permitted to pull guesses out of my butt.

I'm not saying it's him. I'm not saying there's any validity to the rumor at all. I'm just guessing that between the two the guy not playing is the one more likely to be dissatisfied.

They were vague with what the told me so I don't know for sure. One was a true freshman safety and the other was a juco redshirting. Its easy to narrow down who it may be but tjese rumors come up every year and hurt feelings usually calm down.

By way of background, it goes back to my Mother . She graduated from State in 1941 after starting at the W. I have her 1940 annual which has the write up of the Bully I funeral. She said they had a great time at State. That was still during the depression years when students made their own fun because they had little money.

But let's face it. Until we play LSU, this is a slow time for football. No good SEC games this weekend. So I thought I might try to get some humorous responses to the Bully deal. HotMop had a funny response when he said the oldest State artifact he owned was some dog bones which he dug up under the field that provided him with good luck. And LawDog97 had a funny response by rhetorically asking how could he possibly answer a question without knowing precisely where Bully is buried.

But I will let it rest in peace, as it were.

I'm not. I want dak getting game reps and the offense to be running on all cylinders, which won't happen if he doesn't play for two Saturdays

For some reason I've been worried Staley will leave. Probably not happy he is our 4th guy. Didn't he have some attitude problems in high school also?

The problem with these threads as I see it is that they often seem to open the floodgates for people to share every negative rumor they have heard in the last couple of months. The unintended consequence is a snowball effect that lets out a lot of stuff that was better left unsaid. And the stuff that is "hinted" but not said is even worse because it unleashes speculation that may not even be close. We've now implicated a bunch of our team in something -- over a situation that may or may not be anything -- and the majority of the "other" speculation will amount to nothing and be quashed in the next day or two. But the players are going to have to answer questions about all of this probably -- creating an unnecessary, if minor, distraction. Seems easier to just wait and bring it to the table when there's a solid prognosis. That said, this rumor had taken on a life of it's own already -- so I can see why DS went ahead and aired it.

Yes, he does need reps before LSU if possible. But we need him healthy too. My guess is he will be suited up this weekend in case we need him. Perhaps he will be ready for USA. Hopefully.

Saw Malcom Johnson Sunday am @ Football complex. He had just gotten back from surgery on his right hand. Pins & plates but he said he would play Sat. I would be surprised. While there went into training room & saw Bear getting some form of PT on his back--heat & & stim. Dak was not in there nor when asked about other injuries from Sat's game did MJ mention anyone other than himself.

Take that for what it is worth.

So if you wanna believe everything in this thread, Dak got arrested and he and half the team are having surgery this week, which leaves them coming back for LSU. Also, don't forget Staley is transferring. Is this a fair synopsis of the situation?

I'm not worried about Staley or anyone else leaving. Generally speaking, if a player is unhappy enough to leave, you're better off without him anyway.

Which part do you take issue with? Does he not have a right to offer up a guess to Coach66's rumor? Do you think Staley is happy being 4th, if that's indeed where he is? (Mullen hasn't committed to a #3 QB yet.) Did he not have some issues in high school? That doesn't mean it carried over, but it's his history, right?

Basketball would play in his decision too. At least, I would think it would. He should get plenty of PT there. Surely he wouldn't think he's gonna play over dak

No, and hopefully the player will change his mind. It is not a done deal yet.

It is tough on these guys when they have to wait their turn, most of them are experiencing that for the first times in their lives. Some handle it better than others. This is my last comment on the possibility of this transfer and again we will be ok.

I think the obvious answer is

Brandon Bryant. I believe he was the one on twitter playing games during his recruitment. He was very outspoken, and I could see him being impatient and wanting on the field. Hopefully he sticks it out, because I think he will be a very good player for us. Plus with Cox and Hughes graduating, he will be right there in talks for a starting next year.

How is speculation about any of this good for us? Especially naming players and essentially questioning their character(whether intended or unintended) when we do?

We need to just let it be. There are always 20ish kids that are unsatisfied this time of year after putting in the summer and fall work and having to sit a year. Doesn't mean a thing. They talk transfer during the season -- then when they look at the depth chart at Christmas and realize it's their turn now -- they almost always decide to stay at MSU and by NSD are some of our biggest recruiters.
