"It's gonna be kinda weird," said Russell, who plans to just take core courses this summer and choose a major later. "We graduate high school on Friday, move to campus Sunday and start school (today) and I am in the college atmosphere. But I am ready to get it started. My dad actually brought up this idea of enrolling first term and Coach Mullen said it would be great for me to start in June."
Paul also talks about how he is been staying busy since the end of football season, throwing with his recievers and anyone else around. While Russell was obtaining his first college books this week, he was also anxious to get his hands on another book.</p>
The 2009 MSU playbook.</p>
"Right now I don't have the playbook," said Russell. "I had a book of all the formations this summer and have studied those a good bit. They don't just hand out the playbooks to anyone and that's why I came to school early, so I could get a good look and start studying the playbook. Now I will have a little down time to study it instead of waiting to be throw to the fire in July or August."</p>

"Coach Mullen said he wasn't ready for my commitment until I was 100 percent sure I wanted to be his quarterback," said Russell. "He wanted to see that 'it' factor. He said he thought I had it but wanted to make sure. So he came to see me and we watched the film from the South Panola game. He watched every play and he broke down every play. He wanted to know what was going on inside my head and what should be taking place. He liked the fact I took a couple of hard hits but kept on plugging away."
