That his sources tell him that the offense has been looking much sharper this week in practice with Barker at QB.

Take it for what it's worth.

Wow, man, if this is really true, then I am totally PUMPED for the big game this Saturday with UnCC. I want to see our offense go OFF against Charlotte and I want to see AIR RAID explode so I can hear that big siren go off when we score!!

Whoop di do, means absolutely nothing, Nov 28 means everything and Louisvilles defense is salivating over the INTs coming their way.

I myself have been saying all year that barker is better. Have my own sources inside practice that tell me he's light years better than towles the staff just stuck with towles for so long because they're overly loyal towards his seniority. So to say the least it wouldn't surprise me.

A good friend of mine, is a former football player who goes to many of the practices. That same guy, is also my neighbor so I see him daily. You can take it with a grain of salt idc at all if you believe it or not. That's your choice. Doesn't change the facts to me.

I have never been to practice and could have told you the offense looked better under Barker.

If we beat the worst team in college football by just seven points, we are in deep, deep trouble as an SEC football program.

I went to several of the practices before the season started and I thought Towles looked considerably better than Barker. However, they had no pressure on them from the defense. It has become obvious that Towels does not do well under pressure and unfortunately, our OL allows a lot of pressure. We had to give Barker a chance. Hopefully, he gets comfortable against UNCC and comes out ready to play against UofL.

Just the Hawthorne effect in a way. Everyone will be watching to see how the team looks with the QB so the team will alter their behavior in a positive way. Don't know if it will last for 2 more weeks. At least Barker will get some reps and for sure that will carry over
to the UL game which is really the goal. There's no doubt UK would beat Charlotte with PT at the controls .. however, it appears the staff now thinks Barker gives them the best shot against UL

It took em awhile to come up with that conclusion didn't it?

Yep. I too have sources and went to a number of practices. Towles has clearly been the better choice.

Now, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't have been playing Barker much earlier in the yr, though. I haven't been to practice this week but I've heard that Dawson actually has adjusted a few things. I surely hope so, b/c simply changing QBs won't get it done.

But if they make some adjustments on offense, play Barker, and completely rout Charlotte????.....could be just the spur needed to make UL interesting.

Only saw the Spring practice/game and came away impressed by Patrick and o.line. Guess I'm easily impressed. Neither performed well in all the SEC losses. Do think o.line play improved in UGA & Vandy game. Also think it's Barker time! My preseason prediction was 6&6 and thought 7&5 was doable.

Lemond is an absolute clown. But hes a clown with excellent sources within the football program. Hes been on top of many situations before anyone else.

Towles looked better to me early on. So I have no doubts those practice reports were true. But for whatever reason hes regressed and in a major way. He has by far the most physical talent between the two, but the players basically quit on him after he threw a pick on the screen vs UT.

Towles physical skills were just so incredible, the staff tried and tried to improve his decision making on the job, and it just wasnt working.

Barker isnt ready. But hes the best option at this point. He'll make quick decisions, although they wont always be the right ones. His quick decisions will make the OL look better (people will start complaining they just started blocking for Barker and it wasnt fair to Towles, without realizing Towles was holding the ball way too long). WR's will start performing better, because balls will be on time and on target; rather than throwing late, high and behind them while going over the middle. Then if we get first downs, we'll have the tempo we want and we will be rolling.

Of course there will be mistakes because hes not ready. He'll throw picks. Maybe even more pick 6's.

So riddle me this grasshopper, why does Stoops risk a 3 million dollar job for PT to start?

According to what this poster said prior, it was because "Stoops doesn't want to look bad for not playing Barker sooner, so he plays Towles instead." ;-)

I predict you will see a more relaxed and different offense....I say since Drew is better at reading defenses quicker we will see short routes that are quick hitter and turning into bigger plays. this is the style of offense we should have been running all dang season!!!!

This crap about Barker reading defenses better, who in the hell knows? we have hardly seen him in action, much less see him go through progressions while under pressure or receivers tightly covered. and then there is the "dropsies" that the receivers have.

Exactly - that's why I highly discount practice reports.

I don't think its going to make much difference if we can't protect him or have receivers who pout because the ball isn't laid out a damn platter for them or they are asked to block a little or a lame game pan. Sure, Towles has left them out there with bone head decisions and throws but damn all the drops have to be in his head too. Watching a game last night and saw a receiver not run the pattern to the sticks and his qb jumped his a$$ about it. I would have loved to have seen Towles jump Baker's a$$ about all those drops.

Exactly. We haven't seen much of Barker but he might be the best option given that our OL can't pass block. Barker gets into his drop and gets rid of the ball faster than Towles.

Could it have been Towles lineage that had kept him in the game, what with him being the grandson of HOF pitcher and former senator, Jim Bunning? You never know how much pressure CMS could have been under.
