Between the end of the 2020 to start of the 2021 season, the National Champions University of Alabama lost 7 players to the portal.
Was it wanting to be on a winning team?

Because on a team like Bama, you are fighting for playing time against the best of the best in college football. Some folks just want to have more of a chance to play, so they go to places they will get that. Not so much here tho
Are we sure about that? Everyone that I have paid attention to, that has left WVU, has not been a starter and hasn’t been on the field for several games.
In no way was I comparing WVU with Alabama, but to point out that it is happening everywhere, no matter what the situation. Kids who were super stars in high school are (in some cases) finding out that when they get out in the real world, that don’t quite measure up to their high school super stardom.

I wouldn't say anyone is making excuses for NB concerning this matter. Being critical of Brown due to his play calling, clock Management, team discipline is fair game. Being critical because a player enters the Transfer portal is a bit nit picky considering its a problem that every coach is experiencing.

On a team like WVU you had better be fighting for a chance to play and not just show up thinking I'm in.
What teams are not losing players? Have you seen the portal and their numbers? Especially those that have been waiting forever for someone to pick them up.
I don't know how you stop this. When the kids can transfer at will there will be a lot of kids transferring. Either he'll transfer and not get to play and be disappointed or else he'll transfer and get to play and a kid at the school won't get to play because of it and he'll be disappointed. The number of kids wanting to play is much larger than the number of spots for them.
