This year seems eerily familiar, in a good way, to some of Greg’s best recruiting classes during his first tenure. Speed, size where needed, under the radar guys that probably won’t be for long, etc. it’s great to witness.
Only difference now is that it's not restricted to just Florida. This year seems eerily familiar, in a good way, to some of Greg’s best recruiting classes during his first tenure. Speed, size where needed, under the radar guys that probably won’t be for long, etc. it’s great to witness.

And he didnt need NIL to get quality recruitsThe results might be similar, but he’s far more efficient about it.
It’s June and he already has a class of 20 kids. And according to what he’s said, he only took 180 offers to do it. This is why we’re paying him the 4M salary as opposed to the 2.3M we were previously paying him.
This is Schiano with 15 years experience.
Wouldn’t mind seeing a few 4 stars sprinkled in.
And he didnt need NIL to get quality recruits
Probably. It is sheer lunacy to be throwing a LOT of NIL money at an unproven recruit coming out of high school. Maybe for the very top elite recruits, which Rutgers will rarely get a shot at. IIRC, in the interview with Brenneman that I posted, Greg alluded to something like this. I don't have time to look it up, but it makes sense. NIL for transfer portal players makes a lot more sense, and of course, for players on the current roster who have shown potential and/or proven themselves on the bigger stage.Somehow these 2 posts seen interrelated.

Absolutely. Well said.Probably. It is sheer lunacy to be throwing a LOT of NIL money at an unproven recruit coming out of high school. A team with a limited pot of NIL money has to spend it wisely.
And he didnt need NIL to get quality recruits
Gotcha. Btw Ive been patient for 15 years. We need NIL to get the 4 star and 5 star recruit. Jaylan Hornsby would have resolved our receiving talent issues, once and for all. Instead, he’s taking a big bag and going to Texas A&M. The recruits we are getting, are good recruits, but they will require development, and most likely aren’t the instant impact recruits that would help us win sooner. So you’re just going to have to be patient.
Was gonna respond exactly like that.Absolutely. Well said.
Some of the high 3* would absolutely be 4* in NJ.No 4 stars and it's great recruiting?
I don't know if Michigan still has the policy that you don't get NIL until you get there and perform, but it seemed that way originally when Harbaugh said, "But with the NIL, it can become transactional. We’re not going to recruit players and be promising them money to come here. But, it’s been proven — you come here and you play well, then your jersey starts selling, you start getting these deals." Anyone know if that is still the case at Michigan?Absolutely. Well said.
More excuses. Some of the high 3* would absolutely be 4* in NJ.
Classic fence hopper. When Rutgers starts winning you'll say you were supporting all along.More excuses.
I've stuck with them since 2001 so no.Classic fence hopper. When Rutgers starts winning you'll say you were supporting all along.
Will probably end up with two or three 4 stars. No 4 stars and it's great recruiting?
Or a fieldhouse. And he didnt need NIL to get quality recruits
Patience is a virtue and we're virtuosos at it.Gotcha. Btw Ive been patient for 15 years.
Who would have thrown Hornsby the ball if he came to RU? To have an impact as a receiver, you need the ball to be thrown where it can be caught. We need NIL to get the 4 star and 5 star recruit. It's already been 3 years.Let Greg develop his on his under the radar guys. In 3 years, the new coach will have a foundation to work with![]()
I’d love for this to be the case. The spring game didn’t exactly inspire optimism of a drastic turnaround.Gavin Wimsatt is going to play much better this year.
He's still super young. Remember he enrolled during his HS Sr season. While he may be a RS Sophomore on the roster, he's really a RS Freshman.I’d love for this to be the case. The spring game didn’t exactly inspire optimism of a drastic turnaround.
Weather was bad and WR1 and 2 weren’t on the field. I wouldn’t take away too much from the game. 10-18 for 125 yards is honestly better than how he was in most of his games last year either way.I’d love for this to be the case. The spring game didn’t exactly inspire optimism of a drastic turnaround.
I'll volunteer to wear the dunce cap then. For Gavin to be "much better" then last year is not a very high bar to reach. He's not going to be some type of all B1G 10 QB but I expect a dramatic improvement.Anybody who says Gavin Wimsatt will be much better this year is a fool.
Accuracy in QB play makes all the difference in CFB
We have not seen this yet from our QB
Anybody who says Gavin Wimsatt will be much better this year is a fool.
Let’s hope Kirk can develop schemes that will somewhat compensate for this and give the offense some pulse.
If he's right it's "I told you so", if he's wrong it's a "I'm happy to be wrong". Win win situation.Guaranteeing failure is as foolish as guaranteeing success.
That's the MO for many of the people on this board. If he's right it's "I told you so", if he's wrong it's a "I'm happy to be wrong". Win win situation.
