Love GIS. I went back to graduate school online for a masters in GIS. Geeks like me would appreciate your post.
A masters in GIS is $. Out the gate, in the private sector, prob looking at 60k+ I took Delta State's very first GIS class in 2002. Intro to Raster/Vector, which sucked. A hot Hippi chick taught the class. She also did remote sensing for satellite driven farm equipment. I think Lumberg fu17ed er. Anyway, I transferred to State to pursue GIS. I went through Rodgers, Wax and Hood. Graduated 06 with BS emphasis in GIS. Never got the GIS certificate. I fell out of love with it but have recently thought about going back to achieve this "certificate" Im stuck in Hattie with the girlfriend. I would rather live in Kenya. These GIS master programs, tell me more...
That's awesome! I always wanted to create a model that would show if we could win at a high level by recruiting mostly in Mississippi, but like the others i got tied up in my paying job and i never finished it.
No it's at Northwest Missouri State. I'm getting a "graduate certificate" first. That's the same classes as the first year of grad school. Then after that I will choose whether or not to continue with the masters and do my thesis etc. You have to get accepted to grad school even if you just want the graduate certificate. It's a good deal because I can only take 6 hrs a semester with work. This program gives you up to 8 years to get a masters.
That map is extremely telling. It's a simple way for the average football fan to see how we are doing in recruiting in relation to them. You should forward this to Scott and see what he thinks. Surely our GIS department on campus can help the coaches with this kind of stuff.
GIS=unlimited market. Mississippi just scratching the surface. Any sort of database can be transformed into a visual representation which is accurate with real time capabilities and on the fly manipulation...werrrrp werrrp.....nerd alert.....nerd alert
That seems like a pretty good option. didn't know they were offering their masters online now. Kind of interesting that when i went to a Geographers conference a few years back Northwest Missouri State grad students were showing off some their sports geography research very similar to what was done in the topic of this thread. Most their research was being done on trying to research where the best athletes were coming from and how it is having an impact on each conference.
Looks like the Republican and Democrat breakdown. We are spread out and seemingly bigger but they concentrate on the larger metro areas.
